Question Saltillo, Mexico?

Is Saltilo the only remaining 2500 and 3500 truck assembly plant in North America?

If so, I was reading they have 2 shifts and can produce 650 trucks a day at peak. Somehow that does not sound right for supplying all of North America.

I have noticed in the threads that some of the order and delivery times appear to be like 2 to 3 months delivery.

I'm 90% sure that all the 2500 and 3500 trucks come from Saltillo. Believe it or not this is a good thing. My cousin is in machine maintenance at Chrsyler here in Kenosha and he told me that the level of work produced from Saltillo is outstanding. Don't know how true that is but I sure do like my truck built in Saltillo.

Yes there where some 03 2500's made in St. louis, I saw a couple of really cheap ones at a couple dealers but no 3500's or SLT's. When I went to order a new 04 3500 the dealer told me all 04 HD's were made in mexico. That stopped my order real fast. I'm hoping I can get a 05 made in St. louis. I started a thread on this back a couple months ago.

Both my 1996 3500 dually (V-10/47RE) and my current 3500 (see signature) came from Saltillo. I've been buying vehicles for 35 years, and these are two of the best assembled, most trouble free I've ever owned.

tmoore, I remember that thread. In that thread were there not enough positive comments to show that buying a truck assembled in Saltillo was not a problem? Sorry but I just don't understand your comment. My truck was assembled in Mexico and the quality is excellent. Sorry to say it, but far better then some of the American assembled vehicles I have owned in the past.

I have 4 Dodge trucks and they all came from USA. but they are also older but 3 are diesels and one 360V8 and all 2500 or better. no complaints and so far just breaks steering parts and one water pump have been the problems. My 94 is haveing some tranny problems and it s a 5spd so if I find out what happend to in and who it went down on me I'm sure going to let yall know.

Mexstan, the problem with it is its not union made. I know there are many others out there that feel the same way I do. Union contractors are also not buying them for this reason. There was a thread not too long ago, I think about the same time I had the made in America one that sugested some some start a store that only sold stuff made in america. I'm not saying buying a truck made in Mexico is a bad thing. I know some thing that the meican people have few jobs and are glad to get those jobs. I think you need to realize that your paying just say over $30000 for something someone got payed <$4 and hour compaired to $24>. I would rather spend my money on something thats an american company employing american people. But everyone has the right to their own opinion, just as you and I are. I have nothing agaist other people buying foreign trucks or any other product, as I own foreign products my self, just not trucks where I have a choice, as compaired to something like shoes, where there isn't always a choice. I don't want to offend or make anyone mad here, just saying what I have to say in responce to the thread AaronT started.

DaimlerChrysler is a German company. Even if you buy a St. Louis truck, the net effect is no different than my buying my Acura 3.2TL-S that's made in Honda's Marysville, OH assembly plant with an engine built in Honda's Ada, OH factory, or buying a Toyota truck that will be built in the new San Antonio, TX assembly plant now under construction.

My 97 was made in Saltillo and was virtually flawless.

I am not going to get into that senseless union debate again. It was going well in the last thread on this subject until some guys chose to get upset and vent improperly on this site and it was shut down.
