Rode in a 7.3lt Ferd - Pulled 4.5k

Stickers cut down on HP. didn't you read the article on nascar. They actualy put the stickers on, then clear coat over them because the edge of the sticker was causing drag on the body. I mean yes they only stick up .001 inch but hey that's some drag for those motors. I would love to see a cummins Nascar (ok it would be heavy) but man gear it low and the torque would just love to pull the gears.

The 7.3 IS a good motor, but the auto's were JUNK in the late 90's / early 2K models; A guy I work with is on his third one, probably because he pulls big weight (horses) up into the mountains all the time

Actually they arent that bad, i have a freind running 400+ hp on a stock 4r100 and he tows alot. Your buddy probably doesnt have enough tranny cooler and is overheating them causing them to fail.

Well my first post, and go figure it is in the discussion about Fords. I do not have much time to type right now, but I will throw out a quick statement, and that being:
About 10 years ago my dad bought his (now mine) 90 CTD, and he was eccentric about it. He swore by it and always said he would never buy anything else. He didn't keep his word. 3 weeks ago he bought a 6.0 stroker. The reason for his bad judgement and change of ways is simple, it was an impulse buy, and my dad did not research anything before the purchase. His main reason for buying it, was the local Dodge dealership did not stock trucks with service bodies already on them, and the Ford dealership does.
After driving the 6.0, i noticed it has some power, but my 90 CTD still has a somewhat more noticable jump off the line with very minor modification. I dont know if it is just the low end on mine compared to his, or maybe the tranny on the Ford (the thing shifts like its towing something, even with nothing being towed).
Sorry for my essay on this all, just been needing to get it all out, and I am sure I will get some replies on it. And sorry if this is the wrong thread to post it in, but how many other threads on fords are there? Hahahaha

My dad had a 99 stroker and at the time I had a 2000 cummins the ford pulled a little better stock. Then the ford got a superchips and the cummins got a plug in power from BD WE compared both trucks to see which one pulled better and witch one got better mpg. The cummins got about 2 mpg better pulling and seemed to have way more power. The dodge had a 5 speed and never visited a repair shop. The powerstroke only had 1 repair on the engine (wire clip under valve cover) but had 4 automatics replaced in 80,000 miles.(3 of the autos went out when engine was stock)

think what u want i have had an 7.3 IDI with turbo and i dont miss it a bit. i have had 2 powerjokes since and like them a whole lot more. Now u want to talk about a motor the 6.9 had some for an IDI. But as u all know nothin can touch a modded 5.9 CTD

He replied and said that it was a stock truck which answered my question. I don't see what I did wrong.
And to second what was said above, it did seem like the intention was bash that motor... if it was mod stroke to mod cummins it would be a different story and i could see the disappointment... but i find most late model stock motors to be disappointing anyway. ok, i've written too much again, just wanted to clarify everything.
