Checkmate

A buddy of mine wanted me to ask this ques. on here, but has no year or part number.

He has a turbo off of an International DT466 engine that looks similar to my 03. He is wondering what size it may be and if it's a good turbo to use on a 5.9 Cummins.
If anyone has an idea cool. If not, oh well

I saw one on a big box truck rental this summer (DT466)... looks like it would work, but it isn't very big. Sometimes free isn't cheap.

Most of the mid range diesel engines like the dt466 and 3126, 3116 ect I've been around have some kind of S300 family turbo on them. I know that doesn't round it down that much as their are about a billion different configurations of the S300, but it'll get ya started.

This is true as far as the CAT and IH mid range go but the 6ct (8.3) cummins usually have an HX40.

the turbo on dad's 466 sure looks alot smaller than the hx35 on my pickup.... never checked the numbers though, or never took any hard measurments

i seen some dt466 turbos in two different sizes the smaller one was a none intercooled and big was intercooled as for size or name i dont know

size i couldnt tell you, but the trucks at work have in the 2000, 2001 garret turbos, we got and 05 with a borg warner(think that is a replacment) and an 07 with a garret. They are lag a little in the 00,and01 but they are the 190hp engines so they dont fuel hard

I'd guess the DT466 has a dinky turbo to match the dinky hp rating. Craig
