If I smoke someone, I don't normally mean too at all. It happens sometimes. Get in the wrong situation and have to get on the throttle hard, mine will smoke perty bad in the hot summer.

Before I was into diesel performance personally, I thought it was cool. Now I think "Doofus, why are you doing that? People like you are gonna get us all a pile of grief."

I like the wingless(old style) sprints and the dwarf cars.I lwatch the grass roots guys progress through the ranks. There are also some pretty good events up at the 3/8 in Petaluma where they are also running tt flat track bikes.

Yep I agree, constant smoke-not cool. I like my Edge because I can dial it up and down and fine tune the smoke level, 1-4 low smoke, 5 is all out, max smoke, reserved especially for tailgaters.
#3 Annoyance, guys who leave their diesels idling while fueling up. The exhaust just sits around the pumps on a cold day. Plus the noise. No need for it. Shut the stupid thing off. Even at -30C I'll shut mine down while filling up. You don't lose THAT much cab heat in the 10minutes it take to fill up. Unless you have a 1st gen that didn't get cab insulation but if you are driving a first gen you're pretty tough anyway.
I guarantee that no one around you is impressed by the exhaust or noise, even the other diesel owners.

Saw an idiot with a dealer tag cut off an 18 wheeler getting onto the interstate today, I was just waiting for the mess. If I could get extra hp, no smoke and more mpg I'd be pumped. I don't see the need for smoke.

Just curious cLAYH, at what service station can you get refueled at with the motor idling? Aside from turbo cool down, that is. I'm thinking that maybe at a cardlock you could pull it off since they are relativiely unattended. However, AFAIK, rules state that any motor vehicle has to be turned off before fuel, either gas or diesel, can be dispensed.
Cheers!

At which station are they enforcing that rule? I see people leave their engine running at stations all over the country, whether gas or diesel. I also see them re-enter their cars with the hold-down latch engaged, I see them talking on their cell phones, filling portable containiers in their trunks or in truck beds, and I see them SMOKING WHILE FUELING. I always say something, but am also always rewarded by displays of middle fingers. Every state has the the Fire Marshal signs, and every state has the statutes on the books, but I have NEVER seen or heard of them being enforced.

Even in Canada its not as enforced as it should be. Often the attendant doesn't know whats going on outside.
I think its more enforced by the other customers than by clerk. Often all it takes it just one person to say nicely, "hey buddy, not supposed to do that" for someone to smarten up. We're not quite as trigger happy with the middle finger up here.
I have seen an attendant more than once shut a pump down on someone for not shutting their vehicle off. Shell stations seem to be the most strict. They've actually removed the trigger locks from all their pumps.
I like to check my oil and do the windows while filling up so I jammed the fuel cap into the handle to hold it on. The attendant gave me a stern warning not to do it again when I went inside to pay.
