Ranchhand

I am looking for a Ranchhand, and I have heard good things and bad things about them. I've heard that they add too much weight to the front of the truck, to they bend easily if you hit something. Does anyone know anything about them?

I have a Ranch Hand front grille guard and 10" drop hiney guard. Front end has re-arranged the skeletal placement of a 100# doe at 65 mph and all it did was intermingle some of her hide in the expanded metal and push her under the truck. As far as the hiney guard, I had a couple of guys tooling along at 35 mph and pop me at a red light. I saw them coming in my rear view and put her in 1st gear and did a double throwdown lockdown on my brake pedal. They tried to stop at the last minute and plowed me at about 20 mph. I did not move upon impact, got out to see that their little olds had climbed over my reciever hitch and was impaled and caught by my 2"ball. Cops came, gave em a ticket and told me to go ahead and pull loose. I locked her into 4 low and dumped the clutch and pulled the olds about 15 feet. When the wrecker tied onto their rear end I tried again and pulled the whole front clip off of their car. Their eyes were as big around as silver dollars and the cop like to have fell out into a moving lane of traffic from laughing so hard. The rear hiney protector did not even get as much as a scuff.

I would say that Ranch Hand can hold it's own in the real world.......

whole front bumper assemblies are pretty heavy though cause I helped a friend mount his......

Good luck!!!

Gary

Thanks. I believe that story. Ive seen pictures of people hitting trucks with bumpers and stuff like that and it just mangles their car, but no damage to the truck. Do you or anyone know of anyone or anywhere that I might get a good used one?

Ranchhands are quite strong, as well as quite popular. As far as weight, its not nearly as bad as putting a plow on the front of your truck.

There are other options you might want to look at before you spend over a grand on a bumper.

Buckstop : www.buckstop.biz

roadarmor : www.roadarmor.com

reunel : www.reunel.com

just to name the ones I know the links for.

Theres another thread going on right now that might give you some more info.

My truck already had them on it when I bought it, but I e-mailed the guys at Ranchhand and they told me the front weights 260 lbs and the rear 10 inch drop weights 140 lbs. I love mine. Good luck with the search.

Tempting offer, but I think I'll stick with mine. Besides they're welded on.

I went to college at S.I.U.

Where are you?

They normally do bolt to the frame, but the previous owner saw fit to weld them also.
