heyyy im 17 and have about every mod you could want for our trucks except a modded cp3,injectors,cam,and water/meth (soon to come). Honestly I haven't paid a dime on this truck, even if i wanted to my dad wont let me i dont know why.he sees how much i enjoy diesel trucks and how good i take care of mine so he does this for me. I mean what is "spoiled brat" anyway? i never ask for any of this i talk about it and he says well get it then so i do i mean would you say no to a million bucks because you didnt work hard for it if someone was gunna give it to you, hell no the way i see it more power to you if you can but if your a punk about it and think ure hott stuff and brag then your a brat but if your humble and compliment others alot then your ok in my book.Haha but what do i know im about 15-20 yrs younger than everyone else on here but i figured i would post on this one since its someone young who started the thread.

I know exactly what you're talking about CTDGuy. My dad bought me my CTD because I do well in school, I don't go out and be a bonehead and I don't do drugs. I am paying it off, I do all the work on it, I take care of it, I RESPECT my truck.
There is a kid in my grade (11) who's daddy bought him a 99 chev 1/2 ton 4x4, blah blah blah. The kid has no respect for it. He figures its cool to fire it up and with in 10 seconds redline the motor . The kid is a jerk, there is no way around it, he's arrogant, cocky and well, just a natural born jerk! Within the first week he had it, he hits a yellow post going through a drive thru and then just the the other week he "fell asleep" at the the wheel, hit the ditch and did about $2500 worth of damage. And guess whos paying for it? His dad, who apparently said "The boy's gotta learn I guess". Learn what? How about learn how to respect things and not be a idiot. I told the kid, "you know, for the amount of money your spending on repairing your truck from you're stupid actions, you could have thrown a supercharger on that 4.8 (yes a 4.8 V8 and he thinks its the greatest thing ever ) and you might have had something". He told me to go pound sand but I just laughed. I'm pretty sure this kid has never turned a wrench on his truck and probably never will. As long as it starts and goes, thats all he cares about.
I guess there will always be people in life that just shouldn't own a vehicle or anything nice for that matter, till they truely appreciate it. Until then, they can walk for all I care

There's several kids at my school like that to. And I try not to mind them. But what makes me mad is when people look at the truck I'm getting here in a few days and say oh your Grandpa's just giving it to you what should you be proud of. And they don't say a thing to the others about the car that they got given to them and they don't work. In reallity I have been working my butt off for a couple of years to be able to buy this truck. Am I going to need help buying it, yes. But that will get paid off.

He is the new kid to the school so he doesn't know the rules / customs you do. I'll tell you the sooner you loose the attitude the farther you will go in this world. Life is not about what happens in high school. Trust me.
I drive a "99" cause I want to, not because I have to. I could drive any truck made. I choose to drive a "99" because I've owned it since new and it runs and looks as good today as the day I bought it, accually better. IMHO

To sum that up it's not necessarily jealousy but just plain disgust.

I know this way too well. there was a kid i used to go to school with/throw hay for. Daddy bought him a 96 5 spd 8 inch skyjacker lifted dually. thought he was **** of the walk and still does. My CHEVY powered by Cummins puffs blacker smoke when i start it cold then when he holds his to the floor. his has got more mods than mine and still thinks he can spank mine with all of his 325000 miles compared to my 60000. but i dont listen to him anymore because he said that the NV4500 is a complete POS and that its cheaper to put a NV5600 in than fix a 4500 right. plus he is too chicken to put his truck on a sled cuz daddy will kill him. heck the first thing i did when i put my last new auto tranny in my truck was hook it to a sled. and ive been trying to finish this hybrid since i got it.
I say leave the idiot alone and let him keep digging himself deeper. he wont learn anything and he wont always be getting handouts the rest of his life. and when you get your truck tell him that youll hook up bumper to bumper on pavement and see how he reacts, make sure alot of his buddies are around. i would almost put money on it he ****** out. and then say how bout on dirt. just dont kill yours in the process. from my experience all the daddy gave it to me bunch will back down cuz they dont really know what they have. just my .02.

Exactly that's what I would say, "you paid how much" wow that's over priced. But then again if somebody else bought it for him, he wont' care.j
Worry about your own butt, you only have one (unless your married or have kids, then you have to worry about more)
I've seen so many people worked up over what guys have this, what don't, nobody's competing. I mean there's sledpullers and all that, I would love to have a truck like that but it's no practicle, not this, not that. I had a friend that is just about broke trying to buy what I have and it's like I didn't buy it all I worked on junk, and made it better. Who cares what somebody else can do, or will do, worry about your own life, your the only one who can lead it
I guess a lot of you guys aren't engauged, married yet, wait till you go there and you try to tell the other half your right. Once you put the ring on the finger, your always wrong, nothing you do is right, and that's how the rest of your life is

I was one of those spoiled kids. I got my truck 3-4 months before I even turned 16. But, I had to have a job, I had to have good grades, and in general I had to be a good kid and not get in trouble to get it. And through the years I've payed for every single upgrade on it. And if you thought that I was spoiled, there were kids at my school getting brand new M3's and corvettes and mercedes just because they could. But unlike them I was/am very fortunate that my family and I were in the financial position to be able to afford it. But I didn't go around bragging about it, that's for sure. I say just move on and let this kid brag and boast and do whatever he wants cause it sounds like he's got nothing else in his life to brag about and that's very sad. Besides, you'll learn the second you walk into college that everything you thought was important, everyone you thought was so cool and popular, and just everything about highschool in general don't mean squat.

Growing up in NW Houston 20 yrs ago I saw the same thing, kids would get New and often High end off the showroom floor cars and trucks only to wreck them that very next weekend. Worst case was this Kid I knew very well that took his dads restored 1969 Ferrari Dino 246 GT Series I out while they were gone on vacation (dont ever recall my folks doing this, but oh well ) and totaled it trying to jump it over the RailRoad tracks on a Cutten Road. Not to bust your plums, but you both should consider yourselves privileged as many people (adults) your age can't afford to drive such vehicles let alone pay the insurance. I drove a 76 Nova that had 140k on the clock that I shared with my parents because that's all we could afford back then.

If all you ever worry about is material possessions you need to re focus. I want a diesel truck also. I just haven't found a good one yet. When you go to college you will notice that nobody (that matters) cares what car you drive or how popular you were in high school. While you are in school it seems like the most important thing ever. When you get out you will wonder why you took it seriously at all. My roommate has a 98' corvette and an 05' CTD 2500. You may think he's spoiled, he pays for them both himself. Most of the kids I knew that got too much car for a 16 year old were not worth anything. If the guy is a jerk and has a nice car, who cares. If he gets more girls than you beause of his car he is saving you from the shallow gold diggers. EVERYTHING that will ever happen to you has a positive side, it's up to you to find it. By the way I'm only 22 and have 17 year old brother, so I know exactly what you're talking about. This is just a VERY small step in life. A year or two after you graduate you won't even remember why you gave him a thought in the first place.

Wow, he paid 27,500 for an 02 with 70,000 miles on it. I bought my 02 a yr ago with 40,000 miles on it and only paid $19,000. Granted mine is a regular cab but that still seems like a lot of cash to me for an 02. When i was in high school I had probably the nicest truck parked in the lot, a two tone blue 1995 2500 4x4 dodge with a 360. My parents purchased it a yr before i got my license. But when i did start driving it i also had a job and paid for everything i did to the truck and maintainance. It always looked very nice and was washed the 5 yrs i drove it. When i traded it off for my current one ,the truck had 160,000 miles on it, at first the salesman thought i was lying to him when i told him what yr it was. But i know exactly what kind of kid you are complaining about, my best freind in high school has a 1500 dodge of the same yr as mine and his partent bought it for him a month before he started driving and they paid for everything on that truck, even his gas. If it broke they paid, if i was performance wise they paid also. He still drives it everyday and he never took care of it, now it looks like an 11 yr old ragged out pos.

My views
Well I have read all the posts and Have decided to join in on the advice.
At this time, I am only 15 and 1/2 years old, and I act rather mature for my age, Sometimes My Dad helped me get the truck that I own now, and I do all the work on it, very seldom does he even pick a wrench up and use it on the truck. Which I am extremely glad because this helps me appreciate my truck even more.
I see the neighbor guy with his second gen Cummins all tweeked and cranked up, and yes it looks better than mine. He breaks things on his truck almost every time he leaves the driveway. Not me, I respect my truck and guess what, it respects me back in turn.
This guy on the other hand at your school sounds like he tears things up and is not thankful for what he really has, in the end, it might bite him in the rear, or maybe not. But either way, be very happy with what you do have and treat it to its fullest.
The neighbors that rent off of my dad, they have a rather old beat up and rusted out car. They are extremely glad that it gets them from point A to B. And hey, it works for them and it makes them happy.
I have the same thing at my school, we have a girl who has never worked an honest hard day in her life. Her daddy got her a new Ford Mustang. Good for her I say. She always makes fun of me and how hard I work in the summer time to have nice things. O friggin well I think, I am a happy person.
My pops always told me that no matter what, ther is always going to be someone bigger, badder, cooler and richer, no matter what. So deal with it.
Be happy that it gets you from point A to B.
Alright I am done thanks for listening,

Usually Mr high school big shot stud will be the bottom end of the non existant barrel when he gets to college. Its the karma that they need to get their heads outta their keysters and bring them back down to earth..
