True, but I would think most people could do without the winch. And if someone wanted it bad enough, they could install one of those bulky ARB bumpers that a winch can be mounted to.

I have a feeling part of the problem is that the extra weight and power of the cummins might be too much for the electronic locking diffs, as well as the fancy front sway bar. I'm curious how strong the locking mechanism is for the sway bar - the extra 500lbs+ of the diesel might be too much for it.

In addition, for a vehicle designed especially for off road use, a gasser is probably better - it's too easy to put too much torque to the wheels with a diesel (if you're stuck or something), and I would think you'd want an off road truck to be as light as practically possible (or at least not so front-heavy), so the 500lb gassser beats the 1000lb diesel.

Putting a ctd in it would be nice but as said before that winch wont go in there with the intercooler. As for weight I wheel mine offroad as do many others here in alaska. Like someone else said this truck was built for offroad in mind not towing or hauling. So I guess for the Hemi fits the bill for what the truck is made for.

Just don't believe the Hemi Hype

Iker42, The wheelbase is long enough as a shortbed. You don't want to be wheeling (at least rock crawling type wheeling) w/ a long bed.

EXACTLY!

Take a look at my gallery. I added the power wagon badging before Dodge announced the new Power Wagon model. Had I known about it, I might not have put them on, but they sure look good.

I put the badging on because we owned a number of the 70s power wagons over the years. The were always good trucks. My nephew still has a 79 power wagon. I always liked them so I built my own power wagon. Turned out pretty good if I might say so myself.

Oh yea, some of the pictures may not show up until later today. I just uploaded them and they haven't been approved yet!

I know that....But for construction or even farm work, the short bed is useless...Dodge advertises it for construction.....Well I've never seen a construction truck with a short bed...Know what I mean....

I do construction, and I got the short bed for manueverability (on and off road.) And the bed is close to worthless. I can't have a tool box, or it would be completely worthless...

I have the trailer for all my tool and materials, and I still wish I had a long bed sometime...

Iker42: I agree that driver skill means more than the vehicle...

But I also like the breakover angle on the SWB, that means a LOT off road...

And the wife likes the short box, and it is easier to spend money on the truck when she likes it almost as much as I do...

Plus it is almost identical to the W1500 I had when we were dating. So it almost has sentimental value...

And you gotta admit the short box looks good... For all it's uselessness...

iker42: what displacedtexan said about breakover angle ..
Also shorter wheelbase means a lot more maneuverabilty is rocky areas or in the trees. I've had problems in the trees w/ my FJ60 Landcruiser. My shortbed wouldn't have a chance.

If you're talking off road mud, which is not as common where I go, Yeah sure, a longbed is probably as good as a shortbed.

I know a short bed is alot more maneuverable in rocky terrain....But if u want a long bed...It should at least be an option..

The majority of people buying the Power Wagon will be buyong it for the image, and the SWB looks sportier... It is perfect for the image. You could buy the parts for what the package runs I'd bet.
