Powder Coating?
#2
What do you want to have done? I have a shop that does all of our products, but it is in PA, near Reading. If it is stuff that you could ship to me I could have it included in one of our batches.
Also, there is a good shop in Burlington, NJ called Johnsons, but that is still a hike for you. Either that or there should be a few near you--look for "Coatings" in your phone book.
If I can help please e-mail me.

They aren't hard to find...google it for that matter. We have a ton in Buffalo...there's even a guy down the street that does it CHEAP, he's done everything from wheels to bumpers for me, so his oven is decent size. Its an easy process, he even does anodizing. Yellow pages are good, stop and ask at a local Napa or Autozone, most of those guys can tell you.

That's what I'm working on getting up and running now. There is a bunch of colors to chose from, you can even do exhaust manifolds and such, they have a 1200 degree coating, some of the guys around here would cook that off pretty quick though!! I'm thinking my supplier has around 40 colors. I agree though, check your yellow pages for sandblasting/power coat or on the web in your area, bound to be someone close, if not looks like there are a ton of people above that can help you out. I can't, still building....would if I could though.

Steve, you can try this place, http://www.pfonline.com/dp/showpf/sh...ILTON&lcode=PL ask them, I know they do a lot of large comercial stuff, but they mite be able to give you a local place that does, if they don't. If the parts ar esmall, why not get a home powdercoat kit, Ebay is loaded with them, good ole kitchen oven will hold a good bit of stuff, not sure a rim would fit, but ya never know.

I can fit 16" rims off of a 96ish camaro in my kitchen/powder coat oven. They are real deep to, maybe 10" or more. Yes, you can get a powder coat kit off of ebay, also consider your compressor and a good air dryer to remove moisture from the lines before it hits your powder coat. Then figure cleaning the parts, i.e, bead blast cabinet and then your used and dedicated only to powder coating oven, cause you don't want to do it in your wifes oven!! So far I have,
Powder coat gun kit with 4 colors, bead blasting cabinet= $600
Oven=free
Convert oven to LP to bake parts outside=$28
3 stage Sharpe air dryer with desiccant=$568 plus tax
Plus plumbing shop for air to feed blast cabinet, paint booth...in process.
Good Pro oven to really get going, $8000 and up and the $8k is something like 4x3x3 or something, not very big. A 4x4x4 oven will run over $10k. You could also get a heat lamp for larger parts, 36" long dual heat lamp, $1100, they have 30" lamps which are a bit cheaper, around $700.
On a good note, you can get inline line dryers cheap, not sure how well they work as a stand alone and if I wanted something to look good I'd be worried about moisture...that's why I dumped almost $600 on an air dryer. I'd check and see how much it would cost to have it done in relation to how much it would cost to buy the powder coat kit, oven, just the basics. You'll probably come out cheaper finding a powder coat shop to do it for you and it'll be quicker. Just my .02
