In International's defense, I think ferd puts it's own computer and fueling system on the 6.0.

they are hot rods though and will smoke a cummins when both are stock. my friend smoked me in his harley davidson edition like i was sitting still.he's running a banks six pack, larger injectors and carbon fiber driveshafts and 38in tires. i'm just waiting for his to break down just like the rest of them . i think their trying to crank out too much power out of that little 6.0 and causing alot of problems.

Where are PS made??
I worked at Intl Diesel of Huntsville. 23 acres under one roof. I will say that the motors produced while I was there were very good. 100 % hot tested. Mechanically they were machined on some of the most advanced automation around and were very closley monitored for quality.

My friend just got his 05 replacement 6.ohno. I popped the hood, had to have him explain to me where they put the motor

And some guys say our Cummins are shoe horned in! My God, what a nightmare these 6.0's must be to work on. I can see why it is easier to remove the whole cab to work on them. I hope he has better luck with this one, but I have a feeling it ain't going to be much better then the old one after a few miles. There is so much crap under the hood! About all you can do is throw parts at it, preferably from a distance!

The new interior looked kinda cheap too. It is easy to see what Ford had in mind, but it looks like the bean counters got involved, the bean counters won. Not much to the seats in the cusion dept. And the dash looked kinda GM euroish, real flimsy/cheap/focus looking, you need to see it in person. I was not overly impressed, to each his own. I'll stick with my Dodge.

Engines are produced in Indianapolis, Indiana. halerazor, if your buddy said he's got bigger injectors, he's lying, There are only about three or four sets of 6.0 injectors out and none are around here.

I'm real happy with my Cummins, but why all the Ford hating around here. Who cares if it's (allegedly) designed to last "only" 250000 miles? Any vehicle I've ever owned was long gone by the time it reached that point, and I think I'm in the majority on that one. Sure, they've got some issues, but what vehicle doesn't? I've owned Fords, Chevys, Dodges, and all sorts of other stuff before, blind brand loyalty won't keep me from taking a look at everything that's out there come purchase time, and anyone who does let that happen will never know what they might be missing.

I'm all for touting the performance/reliablility of my current truck, but there seems to be a lot of people around here who think that talking trash about competing brands makes their own choice sound better. Seems a little shrill to me, like they're trying to convince themselves as much as anyone else.

I kind of like the looks of the ~99 Ferd better than Dodge 2Gs (looks to plasticy) but their motors are no comparison. I dislike Ferd because of this, I respect their pre 94 models but the newer stuff is . Would you say that most of the gassers from the big 3 are close to equal? How about diesels? Well here is a comparison of the manufacturers diesel versus their gasser model. If all gassers are nearly equal then what would that make the CTD versus the PowerStroke....

I guess that graph takes care of the brand bashing. It was just stating facts.

That is only if all the big three's gassers are nearly equal since it is a comparison within the company. If somehow the dodge gasser has 4X the problems the ford does then it'd put the two motors equal but I highly doubt that is the case....

I have to believe some of this has to do with the volume of sales. Looking at the the comparison between GMC and Chevy makes me think it is because they have the identical drivetrain.

The biggest problem with the 6.0 is the ford electronics. I see a late '90's International 1700 series running around with a bumped up DT444E and that pig runs good for a truck that size. That new pickup Int/Nav is going to build should be the last word in pickups. Ford just messed with it till they broke it. If our engines had strictly Cummins controls on them, we'd have lots more fun with them.

yep. ford's 6.0 programing lets that engine turn 4,000+ rpm. navistar's diamond+ programing only turns 2,600 [just like the med duty cummins ISB's]...

but, in navistar trim, they are still having turbo bearing issues/failures [from a friend who use to work for international]
