The Oval Does it Again
I was reading some info on the new 6.0L Powerchoke diesel. It was going on about how much better it was than the older models and so on and so forth. Then I got to the section talking about durability. Well as it turns out, the wonderful Powerchoke was designed to last a whopping 250,000 miles. What a freakin' joke. I cant beleive anybody actually would spend the money that they do on this garbage.

Powerjoke!
It gets worse. I'm on my 2nd rear main and looks like number 3 before long. I just hope I can make out OK on a trade for a RAM!!
Word of caution: Tell all your friends to stay well away from any used 6.0 POS...!

Not acceptable spending that kinda $$ to have it fall apart. What ever happened to the good old days? our ranch truck is still goin strong and its beat to haties and NEVER has broke down or left me stranded.Thats more than I can say for most anything else I own including my Dodges. Seems most only keep the truck for a few years and get another new one I suppose, Nothin personal guys, but I have some gripes with Dodge for some pretty crummy stuff as well. And dang, parts costs arnt gettin any cheaper. Gotta love the CTDs, Definatly make the truck.

The new motor is without a doubt a step in the wrong direction, the old International powered Pherd actually is pretty decent quality. But if someone gave me a new PSD I'd say thanks and trade it in for a used CTD.

My old 6.9L F*rd is chuggin along just fine after 236,000 miles, smokes a little even though it's completely stock, and it's SLOW (no turbo) but I've put it through its paces, and abused it more than once. Got me diesel crazy and took me cross country MANY times when I worked construction on the road. Wish they woulda stuck with the old. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Who makes it, well, how about three guesses? (look at the emissions certification label on the valve cover.)
Why the change? One word--and you can thank California and the EPA for it: Emissions.

Detroit Diesel?! I don't think it is International again, wasn't Cummins, not Isuzu, nor Mercedes, nor Volkswagen, there aren't many other passenger vehicle diesels out there. Pherd doesn't try to make their own motor do they?! If I had a PowerJoke handy I'd look but I've never really looked at them before let alone their valve cover.

We had a lady stop by this past Wednesday with her 'stroke. Ran rough, hesitating on acceleration, etc, etc, etc. This was her third or fourth time in for the same problem. Our Service Manager and District Rep took her 'stroke out for a long drive and they came back and said the truck ran fine (imagine my surprise). She told me she was a used car/truck dealer and went to the local auction when ever it was open. She said that when a 6.0 'stroke comes through the auction lane, no one will bid on it because they all know how worthless and expensive these things are to keep running.
Still glad I have my Ram.

How could international make that POS... my opinion of them just fell a several notches. I would have guessed they changed it to have a little more power and come a step closer to common rail.
