I am a GM man at heart. I have an "01 CCSB 4X4 that really needs a Cummins 12V conversion. Don't care for the alison trans. I just think the parasitic loss is horrible within that trans. Also, five speeds? If you have the power, you don't need five speeds.

I've had better luck with my Dodge truck than I have my previous GM trucks over the past 26 years or so. I hate the way the Fords drive. And although I don't have a problem with the Duramax engine it looks way more difficult to work on. The only thing I would like to do is stick a common rail engine down in my 2nd gen so I can have the potential to make very large numbers and get the truck into the 10s in the 1/4. I like the 3rd gen Dodges but my truck is paid for.

In order for a truck to be a truck it needs
I-6 Diesel
Manual Trans
Solid Front Axle
8' bed..
So thats a Cummins in either a Ford or Dodge.. Ford steering and trannies drive me nuts... So yep, I like my truck..
The only think I would like better about my truck was if it was the 05 interior, 07 headlights, megacab, 8' bed...

I like my truck as it is BUT I wish the paint was better, better sheet metal(my truck will dent if you lean on it!),and get rid of the dang wind noise!
If it comes down to it in the future that you can no longer get a Cummins in a Dodge then I'll consider another brand....Hopefully though in 20 years you'll see me and my truck and go WOW that old '07 is still running strong!
