Just a quick question, I usually use Rotella but I have to go to cummins direct (round the corner) and buy more oil filters, what kind of oil will they sell me for my truck? and is it just as good as the Rotella? any suggs would be 'preciated..

 

They will probably sell you Valvoline, just as good but more expendsive

 

Cummins up here sold me Valvoline Premium Blue for just over $8 a gallon. The PB Extreme was about $12 a gallon. BTW, that was in a 5 gallon pail.

I saw rotella at tractor supply for 6.29 a gal and 30.95 for a 5 gal pail.

Update: just got back from Sams club 6-1gal bottles for 35.98 6 delo bucs a gal Delo 1300 30 bucs for 5 gal

 

I use Exxon's XD-3 Elite, which is a sythetic blend, at work and in my trucks. I have not noticed any change in milage, but I have noticed a quicker build up of oil PSI upon starting the engine. That is compared to the Rotella. The XD-3 Costs $52 for a 6 pack (1 gallon bottles). The problem is, the closet distributer/dealer, is 30 mile away. I don"t need a full synthetic oil 'cause I live in Florida and change the oil every 5k miles regardless of oil brand/type. I do like the benefits of the synthetic oils, therefore I run a syntec blend. I Have 2 Questions for the board.

1: Is anybody else running the XD-3?
2: How about a poll on oils ( dino, synthetic, blended / brands)

There are lots of guys using XD-3 up here in Canada....except its made here by Imperial Oil which is a subsidiary of Mobile/Exxon. Most guys use the 0W40 version year round. Ive been told that the formulation of the 0W40 was recently change and the previous "semi-synthetic" formula is now "fully synthetic".

Just thought you may want to know.
