NY, NJ, MA watch out!

was skimming through this last months petersens' 4wheel &offroad and after scanning the mag for the 12th time I finally went and read the enviro watch section. I usually skip this section mostly because there is so much of the same.
However its got my attention today and should get yours as well ESPECIALLY if you live in the aformentioned states.

ok so to summerize what im going on about,
NY- bill A.B.10116 in legislature proposes to make brushguards/ grilleguards illegal for onroad use. The law would make current owners illegal. I wonder if that would apply to full bumper replacements as well.
MA bill H.B. 2011 bans installation of "exhaust system which has been modified in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the exhaust" meaning no muffler deletes, no stacks.
NJ bill A.B. 757 puts a decibal limit on all aftermarket mufflers. no limit has been established.

Govt= for the people, by the people, against the people.
So go write your legislature if your affected.

Well I can tell you the motorcyclists here wont like that. Loud pipes do save lives. But theres got to be moderation in there somewhere. I spent the extra 100$ on the 'quiet' version of my exhaust pipe and its still loud like a helicopter, but not obnoxious like a straight pipe.
As for the truck, I think my engine makes more noise than my exhaust . Dont know if theres a muffler on it or not. Im assuming 5" pipes even with a muffler are louder? I noticed at inspection time they took some kind of measurement on the exhaust, I think the width of the pipe.
Adding more stupid laws to an already huge pile of laws that already exist is pretty foolish. Its just a way for these people to look like theyre doing something while scratching the backs of people that do nothing but complain.
But then again, nothing in mASSachusetts surprises me any more.

more useless legislation.... glad I live in a state that doesn't care whether I have a brushguard or a loud truck... matter of fact, they don't even care whether or not my truck can pass an emissions test because we don't have them.

BOHICA!

What silly purpose could a law banning brushguards have? Sheesh!

I would imagine they are probably thinking around this route,,,,,,,,
"The added strength of those gaurds is turning these vehicles into mid-evil battering rams and jepordizing the lives of the folks in those little tin-can economy cars."
I'm NOT saying that I think this way,,,,,,,, but it just sounds like one of the respones you would hear. I look at it as protecting your inve$tment from damage and making it safer for your family!

I think Rattlin's on to something.
Heck, I think some of the "Elephant Strainers" on these trucks weigh MORE than the average Econo-Coffin.

Stop your whining. It's for your own good, silly. They know better than you do anyway. Don't you know the legislators have a quota of new bills to come up with and pass every week, and they were running low on ideas. I've sat in on a MD legislative session, and believe me, the stuff they come up with just beats all. Anyway, not to be scolded for a political swerve here, so I'll quit now!

It's just like I said in the other thread on seatbelts, it's nothing but a REVENUE issue.
It's only a matter of time before they pass this on to aftermarket parts, aftermarket tires, aftermarket oil, and on and on.

Don't get me started.... if the government was concerned about everyone's personal welfare they'd make smoking, drinking and fast food against the law. If they can tax it, they will.... it's past time for the fairtax.

Actually allot of (changes, laws) are being made to the shape of the front end of autos. From what I've read it has to do with the (way / angle) the front end (would / could) hit Pedestrians.
If I (God forbid) ever run someone over...Ummm. Forget it.
If I had some massive brush guard on...Ummm. Forget it even more!?

Let’s see what happens when it snows and these same politicians can't get their cars out of the driveway. All because I can't hook my plow up to my Illegal grill guard.
