My family has four Cummins Diesels, 1992, 1994, 1996 Dodge 3/4 Ton reg. cab reg. box. And also our 1975 Drainmaster Trencher has a Cummins in it. They are all amazing work engines. We also have three mercedes diesels. A 1986 190D, 1992 and 1993 300D all with a 2.5L turbo. The mercedes make an amazing engines( all of our cars are over 400,000km). But in my opinion, Dodge should stick with their straight six cummins for the 3/4 and 1 Ton Trucks, and then put a mercedes engine in the half tons, libertys, durangos, dakotas and such. Just my two cents....

rammer64, no need for an apology. diesel kid, I agree with what you say. Dodge has a super good combo now. Why mess with success. It would make sense in some lighter duty vehicles such as those you stated. All you have to do is look at Ford and wonder what they were thinking when they went to the 6.0. If Dodge would change to an MB and then have teething problems it would probably destroy their market share for a long time. But sometimes company's do things that make absoloutely(spelling) no sense.
