Well, run it this time. But I'd switch over to 15w-40 next oil change.

I went on Lucas website. No mention of a 5w20 diesel oil. There is a synthetic 5w20 racing oil. The only diesel oil is their 15w40 HighTBN. Am I missing something here???

Question

Why in the wide, wide , world of sports would you pick a 5W-20? It is not speced and could cause engine failure in severe conditions. I think even the Canadians in -20 to -40, I beleive, use a 10w-30.

When I go back to the farm I will dig up an empty bottle and give ya'll a pic. and a run down on it .

I have been hauling straw with it sence I put it in. I check the oil level every morning before I startup ; I may end up wiping a quart off the end of the dipstip before my next oil change though.

Thanks for the concern.

I was using Amsoil DEO 5w-40 but I was getting 4 or 5k miles and blue smoke at start up: it is specifically for the 6.7 and 6.4's and what not. Now I am using Amsoil HDD 5w-30 oil no blue smoke at all. The oil is loaded with additives for heavy duty use. It actually keeps its viscosity the same or better than 15w-40 as I was talking amsoil. I like it and the mileage on the interstate is at 21-22 hand calculated at 65-70. My truck is getting broke in though as it has 105k miles. I would definitely change the oil to a diesel rated as we need detergents in our oil. Amsoil is great check out their website. Aaron

Sure you don't have the Hemi in the truck? 5w-20 is required for the Hemi's with MDS.
