12K or 18K Which is it!?
My question was, why did the trailer weight "vary between 12K and 18K at different times"?
Could it not make it over the hill so they had to dump off 6K so it wouldn't blow up?

Naw, that is when they got the CTD powered D350 dually out to pull it up the hill and keep up with traffic.

You guys crack me up. You're as bad as the Ford guys over at TheDieselStop.com.
Both trucks have their strengths and weaknesses and it pretty much comes down to personal preference for the reason why we pick a particular truck.

Its not about the truck being 4 months old. its about the truck doing what it was designed to do (pull heavy weights over varying terrain) and not having problems doing it. My F250 has the cooling system of an F550 on it. It will do what the manufacturer says it will do forever. The point of the video was to show that the truck will do what it was designed to do, over and over and over for 150,000 miles.

here is more proof that Ford is just envious of Dodge. Ford is touting the "Built Ford Tough", well in the early 80's on the Royal SE option package the badges read:
"Engineered Ram Tough"
picture is from an 82 Ramcharger.

The only things that I have to say are I think that rating the engine DOWN for the F-450 from the F-350, regardless of gearing, is ABSURD. The truck is rated to tow MUCH more weight than the F-350, hence it NEEDING that extra power. On that note, that truck, when properly equipped (as it is) is rated to tow 24,500lbs, which means that at any given time during their testing, it was loaded 6,500-12,500lbs UNDER what it is rated at...if they really wanted some bragging rights, they should have put 24,500lbs behind it and THEN went out on their test run. Lastly, I agree with what was posted about how they were bragging about how quiet the interior, etc is...whether the truck was driven for 150,000 miles over a course of 4 months is irrelevant to how the noise integrity of the truck held up, because the truck was only 4 months old. I'm not knocking Ford's engineering, if you look around at some of my posts, I state that their interior/exterior engineering is the best of the three, in my opinion, but bragging about the sound integrity of a 4 month old vehicle is garbage. My truck only has 22k on it, but due to the fact that I have had mine for a year and 4 months, have offroaded in it, driven highways and rough side streets and back roads, etc, I already have a couple noise integrity issues...that stuff comes from wear and tear and things moving around a bunch...not 4 months of highway miles.

That's it exactly!
And, of course, not suitable for highways in Alaska!! Even as a 450 it is not tough enough to drive highways up there. Well, there goes the Alaska market. It's just as well. When the engine quits on the Alcan highway you could be in real trouble.

Well, not quite. It shows that the truck can haul a much lighter load than its advertised capacity over various HIGHWAYS and ONLY knock the front end out of alignment doing it.
I'm impressed, but it's not a favorable impression. Where's the beef?

I have to say that the F-450 is the best looking new truck out now. It's like a Fashion model w/ an STD... you know you shouldn't do it but you can't help yourself! You know you are going to be disappointed if you bye it. It is a great looking truck but after the last Powerstroke fiasco I'd be afraid.
And that 450 pulling a 12-18k trailer would be like me pulling a lawn mower trailer 150k. My old truck has 120k on it and has never had the front end aligned and I've pulled alot more than the 18k he was talking about.
