The digital engine computer can make some incredible performance and economy gains. Common rail design helps, too.
My driving: Some around town (less than 80 miles / tank) mostly highway is yeilding 19.5 - 20.5 hand-calculated. The computer seems to think I do a bit better.

I would not believe it if I had not seen it and driven the truck for the week, but my brother-in-law has a 6.0 PSD 4x4 4door that will get 30mpg on straight highway driving at 65-70MPH. I drove the truck and checked to myself. Computer showed 30-31 on the highway and trip average stop and starts was 29 hand calculated. He has a cold air in take and hypertech programmer.....like I said I did not believe him until I drove the truck for a week.
