First of all, Ill state that I have a Getrag 5speed with a 3.07 rear. That said, Ive hand calculated a mostly hwy/part city trip at 27.7mpg. As soon as I get it intercooled, Im gonna take a highway only trip for a couple hundred miles and see if I can break 30.

I had a guy in a d-max tell me the other day at the gas station that he gets between 25 and 30 mpg?
He cant be smart enough to do math because he isnt smart enough to buy a real truck with a real engine in it like my ol' 12v cummins

Best way to get them is tell them to push button twice more on overhead, that gives you distance with fuel you have in tank, if they are doing 25mph on it let them drive it, fuel will run out sooner than what display says since calculations are wrong.,,,,
BTW my truck does 34 too, when I click on the left button and change into Metric system....

I do know on a recent trip out to Kansas pulling a 28 foot gooseneck I pulled down 15.33 mpg with just the trailer in tow. I was going out there to pick up a baler for a friend of mine and he is thinking about buying Ram and wanted to see what kind of towing mileage I was getting. He paid for all the fuel and figured all of the mileage up. I usually get from 19 to 20 mpg on the highway with a best of 21.6 mpg. I don't have much city driving to affect my overall mileage.

My wifes Buick is close but wierd. In the city it will read 25ish and hand calc is 22-23 but on the highway it will read 27ish and hand calc will be 28-29. Ant thats filling up on the highway and running it out in the highway. I have never seen one read low before always high.

i get 34 miles per two gallons!!!!!!!!!! everytime i take leave to go back to texas, and i ride with my neighbor, he has a 01 or 02 ps 7.3. every dang time we fill up, he points to the overhead and says "dang man i got 21 or 23 mpg again" or what ever number over 20mpg. the last time i was down, i said let me see your receit. he had put aprx 30+ gallons in, and after we hand added it, it was around the 14 to 15 mpg range. he just looked like i just stole his bike and rode off on it. he did have a juice w/ attitude on it, but allways keeps his foot to the floor. its on its 3rd transmission now. it just gits under his skin when i tell him my ole straight six averages 16 to 18 and can squeeze 20 on the highway babying it. theyll never learn.

Maybe they are adding there numbers up?
18 Highway
15 Around town
That puts my truck at 33 mpg.. Doesn't it?
16-17.x is where I typically see my truck. All highway and I have seen close to 20 but I have not gone above 20.
My goal is to get the truck at 20 for my average and I may be happy.

My little VW diesel usually averages 47mph around town, lately its been around 42mpg with the change in diesel. I have seen 50-51 on hwy occasionally.
My dads Ford PSD gets 12 in town 15 hwy, empty.
As soon as I am done with my Cummins conversion I'll see what a Cummins gets in a Ford.
