my dealings with magnam truck and auto

Hi all i've been looking around for a while for a 98-02 ram 2500 24v and came across one at magnam truck and auto here in lima. I drove it once and liked it. its a 2001 ram 2500 quad cab 4x4 with an intake and a small chip and a huge mbrp exhaust. it has 143,000 on it and they are asking $17,900 and thats about $1500 over book. i took it and got it inspected only to find out it has a BAD coolant leak on the back of the motor on the right side on the head. The guy who did the inspection wrote it up and i gave it to magnam and they were unwilling to negotiate on the price at all even though they know its over book and screwed up. any advice would be helpful but i doubt i'll be willing to work with them ever.

Thanks
Ramnation

I love the dealers that have a cummins for sale and they think the bed's filled with gold. So much for an inspection before they put it out on the lot.

ya ... i hear that johnny ... if your up in NY then I'm sure you've heard of "THE DIESEL MAN" out of Syracuse ... he definitely believes his trucks are made of gold, std cab, 12V with a 5 speed for 13.5K !!!!!!!!!

ya, it's a 12V with the 5 spd, but the last time i checked the rest of the truck was 11 years old ... i swear, unless you have 20K burning a hole in your pocket, it's hard to get into the diesel game.

That sounds about like them. They've always been over priced.

Magnam has all kinds of diesels . It seems they have more Duramaxes than anything else . I drive past there a couple of times a week .

Magnam wont negotiate on prices. Whats on the windshield is what you are going to pay.

Bought my 2000 there and had a bad engine miss the day after I bought it and they fixed it right then when I brought the truck back in. The salesman I dealt with was pretty straight forward and didnt try to feed me a bunch of BS.

Yea i talked to the gm there and he asked if i would buy it if they fixed it but he wouldnt go down period on price still. I gave him the paper stating what was wrong with it and he still hasnt pulled the truck off the lot yet.

Yeah Magnum seemed kinda pricey when I was looking for my truck. I ended up clear down south of Lima in West Liberty, Liberty motors. Really nice guys, weren't the typical get ya in, talk ya into buyin a truck and get ya out. About 3 weeks after I got mine, the clutch mas. cyl. started bleeding off, I called down there and told em if they'd pay for it I would put it in to save me havin to drive 2 1/2 hours to get it fixed. They said no problem, called my dealership up here and I picked up the part. Another good place for trucks if ya don't mind driving a little ways is Charlie's Dodge in Toledo, or else Lodi Dodge near Ashland.

Whew....... I got my 01 for 13'500. but also I got it from a dealer on E-bay. Very happy with the truck came with a 4" smoker ehaust and an edge box also. I would suggest looking around more there is a sucker born every minute but that goes for buying and selling. Plus you have to remember once you get here you'll want to do what all of us have done. MORE POWER!!!

Good luck on the truck, Dave
