Why even bother?

Many of them own diesels, they just dont see the point in being able to win races and rip their foundations off at the same time..., Just like lowriders dont see eye to eye with four wheel drives.. same case and point.. The ones that have tried the diesel like it.. others.. they wont cause theyll fall into the same spell.. hehe he he he i bet some of them will be here shortly after they get their plates, or their edge chips in... he he he he he

Hey, I'm a big LS1 guy! Lol...do I need a low 11 second daily driver? No...haha, but I do! And, I've got my old Cummins about ready to get some go-fast parts too! I started out at ls1.com when I first got into 'em, but got away from that site pretty quick...too many guys just full of gas, as you have seen...found several other sites that are a zillion times better, my favorite being ls1tech.com. Threads like this are exactly why I stopped going there. [EDITED]...lol...oughta send them the link of Bill Fletcher's 10.13 pass...street legal and all...lol...have a good one!

the thing no one mentioned is that a cummins last atleast 500,000miles let me see a gasser do that. yeah diesels cost more to maintain, but we don't have to buy spark plugs and a diesel is alot more reliable than a gasser. i will never knock anyone just because they don't have the same interest as i do. we(ricers, musslecars, diesels or whatever your into) all have the same thing in common HP/TQ

arghh....cant believe that guy actually "looked us in the eye " and said his LS1 gets well north of 20mpg and his friends get north of 30!!!....yeah but we do sink ...i sunk before...700extra pounds sounds about right...cummins is 1100 lbs..add the thicker frame...whats a small block weigh?..like a 5.3..400 lbs?...

i hate that "practicality" argument...i like the sound and feel of a diesel and i like trucks!! nuff said!....thats like me saying "why would u ever get a V8 camaro with today's gas prices that only seats 2 and cant be driven in the winter?" same thing!...

chronic diesel envy

my buddy's LS1 powered fairmont went 9.90's on a 150 dry shot and got 26-27mpg on the highway...

he digs my truck...

hot rodders are hot rodders... no matter what they drive. I'm not a big fan of f-bodies, but the LS1 is one of the greatest production engines ever made IMHO.

I have no idea where to stand on this one. I'm happy as a puppy with two with my Hemi powered Ram but my next truck will probably be another Cummins powered Ram. They're addictive. I read a lot of bull biscuits from both sides of the fence. I guess it's our competitive nature...

To be quite honest, that thread over there makes me want to vomit. I see no point for getting into arguments in a forum setting like that. If Jack and Top were in charge of that forum, the padlocks would be all over it and half the people would have ben banned.

To each his own about vehicle selection, but don't bash people..... There is something that just isnt right about it. Sure, I love my truck, but there are plenty of people who don't. I dont like ricers, but I don't own one and I don't bash those who do .... anyway, That site makes me sick.

I agree. The power you can get out of them is amazing and you can keep the mileage. The vette gets about 25mpg at 80mph. They are also a pretty long lasting engine. There are a couple of guys with 70k+ miles slapping blowers/nitrous on them and the engines are holding. LS1's love nitrous.

For what it's worth, the "Almost Anything Goes" section of LS1.com is a faaaaar representation of what 99% of the LS1 enthusists believe. A lot of people who post there don't even own a LS1 powered vehicle . The true LS1 performance guys broke off several years ago and formed LS1Tech.com, and part of the reason for that split was over the AAG forum. I own both a diesel truck and a WS6 trans am (LS1 powered) and have never seen talk like that from either camp in the "real world". Most people at our local dragstips are amazed these trucks run like they do, and those accolades have come from F-body and Vette owners as well. IMO having a vehicle that can run 12s in the quarter, get 20 mpg, tow 15,000 pounds while getting 12mpg, seat 5 comfortably, run 130+ and last over half a million miles is nothing to sneeze at.
