Loud PSD turbo whistle
Saw a 6.0-NO Excursion going through an intersection today, it had something done to the turbo to make it really loud. I mean obnoxiously loud and shrill, and he didn't have a load on it and wasn't accelerating very hard. I thought it made him look like an even bigger dork, you gotta at least be pulling something if you're gonna flaunt your turbo. Anyone know what that might have been? Some kinda add-a-whistle thing?

Im guessing it was a 2003 model. Its the first year for the variable vain turbo on those trucks. IIRC they changed turbos on the 04+ models because they had so many troubles with the other ones. Its ungodly how much they whistle You dont have to do much to get those trucks to sound that way. Just cut the muffler and cat off and you got it.

I may be prejudiced, but when I hear a 6.0 turbo whistling under light load, it makes me think that those engines rely on the turbo almost exclusively to be able to do anything.

Those things are gutless turds just like the old Detroits ......... fall on their face till 2000 rpm when the boost builds . Does wonders for reliability too !! Drive by a large Ford dealership here frequently and always get a kick out of letting them hear a REAL diesel when I go by . AEM intake with duals sounds perfect on a Cummins ........... they ALWAYS look too !
