pick up a tractor/heavy equipment trader. shop for a deal. john deere, new holland, ford, kubota, branson, massey-furgusson are all about the same.

the yanmars you're seeing are chinese built and are of OK quality. i reccomend one of the above brands. you ought to be able to find a good condition 25-35 horse tractor with several implements for $5000-$8000, which is half to a third what they cost new.

For alot of bang for the buck look into the Kiotia brand tractors. I looked at them pretty hard but choose the MF over it just because of the dealer in my town.

I know that yanmar does in fact make the small motors 40h.p. and under for John Deere.

Being in the business , i can tell you this , a cheap tractor , is just that , a cheap tractor , be ready to turn some (metric most likely) wrenchs on it , and wait for parts...

and just fyi , the Kioti brand , is a late model kubota , with the name removed , but any Kioti reps will not admit it.

kubota basically sold em the blue prints once they were done with em.

Kcastun you had better check your facts on the Kioti. Kubota never sold anything to Kioti nor did Kioti copy or steal anything from Kubota. The fact is that the Kioti reps did at one time try to pass the Kioti off as a Kubota strictly to get the brand recognition. Kubota in fact started a law suit to dispell any of the misrepresentation by Kioti and in fact proved that they did not have any common parts new or previous with the Kioti. You make your statement very matter of factly as if you have some first hand experience I would suggest you serch the internet as there are nemerous rebutals of those very statments that you have made.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRESS RELEASE REGARDING SETTLEMENT IN KUBOTA V. DAEDONG (KIOTI) CASE

Kubota Corporation and Kubota Tractor Corporation, on the one hand, and Daedong Industrial Co., Ltd. and Daedong-USA, Inc., on the other hand, have settled the lawsuit filed by Kubota in August 2002 in Federal District Court in Fresno, California.

The lawsuit alleged, among other things, that certain aspects of the appearance of Daedong's Kioti tractors infringed trade dress and other rights that Kubota asserted exist in Kubota's tractors. Daedong is taking certain steps that Kubota believes will address its concerns.

Kubota wishes to once again inform consumers that there is no relationship between Kubota and Daedong or their respective products. Kubota and Daedong are completely separate and unrelated companies. Kubota did not design and does not manufacture the engine or any other component of any Kioti tractors, and Kubota dealers have no obligation to honor warranties on Kioti tractors. Kubota does not authorize its parts to be used on Kioti tractors.

Other terms of the settlement are confidential.

I once had a Ford design engineer tell me that Ford owned Cumins so I took it for what it was worth. I just want to know how a company sells designs to another and then turns around and wins a law suit . I only sighted one source for the info in my post but please do not take Kubotas word for it. please just do a search on this info and you will become informed.

I had a Yanmar 1702D tractor. Great tractor 21 hp 4wd. Pulled a 4ft bush hog fine. Traded that in for a Kubota BX22 . 2xhp front end loader back hoe and 60" mid mount mower. Traded that in since I finished all my light backhoe work and ended up with a Kioti L3054 4wd, 5ft loader, 6ft rear finish mower. I just mowed 5 acres or so of grass in under 2 hours. see pictures at http://photos.yahoo.com/vamangano and visit www.tractorbynet.com Have fun! Chris
