long block vs. short block?

please forgive my ignorance but I have seen people talking about long and short block for these cummins motors and I don't know what they are talking about. I thought all of our blocks were the same? Can some one please educate me on this?

Short block is the block and rotating assembly. A long block would be a short block plus head, valvetrain, I'd imagine oil pump, water pump as well. Full engine you could add in the manifold, turbo, fuel pump(s), PS/Vac pump, etc.
