Local loud mouth?
Just wondered if you guys had a guy everyone knows and rolls their eyes when they pull up because they are so full of it. There is a boy I know that has a 96 5spd cummins and is ALWAYS wanting to race someone, or talk about who he beat, and bla bla. He will race anywhere. He is always racing in town, and ALWAYS blowing as much smoke as possible. Heck he almost got in a fight with a boy in a powerstroke tonight because he beat the powerstroke, and they both got to talking crap. Pretty childish i thought. I have raced him a couple of different times on the bypass here in town when he got beside me, but I havent puposely gone out to race him. The time I raced him that was the best we went from a roll about 3 times. The first 2 times we were going about 55mph, and ran to 75 or so, and I would run 3rd all the way(I can run 80 in 3rd). As soon as I would hear him kick on it, I would mash down on it, and instantly just walk away from him. The 3rd time, I thought I would give him a little more of a chance, and ran overdrive. He got the jump on me, and my front bumper was at his back bumper about the time I got spooled, and when I spooled he got to see me walk around him again. he says the truck runs a lot better now, and bla bla. I think it actually does run a little better now, but not awesome or anything. He told me the other day that he would dust me in a race. I really didnt want to race, because i dont want a ticket, but I told him id race him from a stop anyways. He backed out in a hurry then because he has a 5spd . Anyways, he told me tonight he has some injectors now I am getting a buddy's set of New Era 370's pretty soon. Im not sure if I wanna put em in yet, because I dont want to kill my transmission, but gosh this boy makes me want to put the 370's in and some 191's for a night, and suck the paint off of that thing. Anyways, I was just wondering if any of you all knew someone that was the same way. Oh, and for the record, I like to race and blow smoke as much as anyone, just not in town, and i VERY rarely purposely go race someone on the street. I wanna try to get him to come to the dragstrip with us this summer where the crap talking stops, and the times tell it all.

YAY!!! It sure took 4ever to get 100 posts!
There's always atleast one loudmouth that gets ya all spooled up, and not in a good way. Got a guy I work with like that. "You wanna run em?" The funny thing is, he drives a lil purple Ford Ranger Edge. Oh his words, "It was blue when I left the lot!" Ha! He may just beat a stock 6spd 4x4, but I can still run right over top of his ferd, with 10K in tow!

It doesn't matter where you go, everybody knows someone like that. I had a kid out here with a 98 12v. Always talks it up, told him to follow me to the last dyno run I did and we'll see just how good it runs.

I have learned that you have to be careful picking your races... I got whooped by a stock F150 the other day... I was still sitting on the line spinning all 4 tires while he was pulling away [laugh0

I wish my CTD were fast enough to talk smack about. You guys have scared me into leaving it with just a BDTP set on Performance and a drop in Amsoil filter. I dont want to blow the tranny or spend $4000 on a built one.

I don't have a clutch, so I race no-one. I'd rather not get embarassed. Plus, when I try to get on it in 4th and 5th it's worthless.
I have kind of raced a older dark green 12v about a month ago. It was just kind of goofing off. We kindly waved at each other after it was over.

I used to love racing anywhere but now my car is way to fast for the street (even thou it still has tags and pasted emissions) and my truck is more for work not play. But I still bring out the car here and there on the street just to shut up loud mouth people like the kid your refering too in this post. Most of the time they won't even talk about racing when they hear it pull up. And when they do want to go they always think that i'll never get traction but fail to realize i'll just adjust my shock and hand them a whoop'n.

Your T/A sounds ilke a fun weekend car. I had an '85 Mustang GT that I took too far and it want much fun on the street either. I like my Mach1 right where it is. Mid to low 11s in the low 120s is enough to handle most street situations.

Yeah, I race my roomate the other night. It was my 93' verses his 78' Puch Moped. He beat me...I took him past 30 though, but thats because thats all he can do on a moped-----haha. Times were best when I built air-cooled VW's. When a Z28 or a GT see's nothing but the license plate of a 35 year old bug, it sure puts a grin on your face!

I have a friend that has a 94.5 PSD, and he thinks he invented the diesel engine. He likes to tell me that Rotella-T will blow up a PSD, and his latest "discovery" is that a common-rail will lose 100 HP if you cut the muffler off.

Yeah, we all know people who try to race everyone in sight, their trucks usually dont make it too long with that type of driving all the time...Go ask him if he wants to race again when he is broke down.

I live in a college town. People like that are everywhere. The summer is the worst when all the people from my highschool come back from college. Its best just to let that kind of person go on about whatever they're doing. Eventually they will do something stupid and end up screwing themselves...

i think EVERYBODY knows somebody like that, if they don't, then they ARE that person!!!.. I know of a stock D-Max owner that swears his 03 4x4 3500, can out pull, out accellerate, get better fuel mileage....yada yada yada..... all at the same time vs. my Cummins. Im of the opinion WHO really CARES!!. his is constantly in the shop. I guess hes even beating me in the most repair bills category too. But, this guy is the same whether were talking trucks, 4 wheelers, women, music....
There is no street racing in Texas anymore, they have recently passed some VERY STRICT laws concerning street racing. They can take your ride and its now considered a felony if convicted.
