Liters to Cubes
#3
I also think 60.4 is the correct number. However, when on the road and need a quick number, I just multiply the liter by 6 and then figure out what the cubic displacement is from there.
Thus, if I see a 14 liter Cummins, multiply it by 6 for a quick figure of 84. I know then that a 14 liter Cummins engine would be around 840 cubic inches.
Its just a fast way to get a rough cubic inch number.

Here is a neat sie that you might find helpful.

BTW 14 liter=855 CI
5.9 liter=358 CI

61 ci per liter is close enough.

i work off cc's when i do converting. ±16.39 cc = 1ci
5.9 liter = 5900 cc / 16.39 cc = 359.97 ci
14 liter = 14000 cc / 16.39 cc = 854.18 ci
1 liter = 1000 cc / 16.39 cc = 61.01 ci
5.9 liter = 5900 cc / 16.39 cc = 359.97 ci
14 liter = 14000 cc / 16.39 cc = 854.18 ci
1 liter = 1000 cc / 16.39 cc = 61.01 ci
