I didn't know they made power boxes for these yet... that's great... how much advertised power / Tq do you get?? I drove one and thought it was a little bit sluggish taking off, and thought a slight rail pressure increase would be just the ticket...

I wouldn't have a box on ours if you gave it to me. Just asking for trouble if you ask me. Ours has plenty of power to get my wife back and forth to work everyday. I think it is a lot more peppy than the gas jeeps she's had if you ask me.

Yes...and Go Warranty Go....Fun comes with a price.

No warranty issues on my '96, so it may see some bombing in the future.

With the exception of the new 2007 requirements, the milage in the next years may go up. The 06 liberties aren't sold in MA and I assume CA due to not meeting emissions (state specifications I assume? They don't probe the tailpipes of diesels that I know of). Perhaps the 07 will be better on milage, then again, with the crap they have to add to the 07s, maybe not.

Thumbs up

I thought about maybe buying a Liberty CRD. I test drove one and liked it. At the time I had 2 other diesels, a VW TDI, and a VW rabbit pickup. The Liberty ran very well, and I really liked it, except it didn't have enough headroom in it for me. I felt as if I had to bend over to see under the upper edge of the windshield. Other than being "small" inside, the Liberty seemed to be VERY nice!! I thought engine performance was very good for a 4 cylinder.

In the summer, on the highway mine will do 26 mpg.

On the winter blend diesel I'm in the low 20s.

I towed a 16' flatbed trailer with my buddies lifted and modded 4x4 truck on it last weekend (probably around 3 tons total weight) through the hills of Tennessee and got 14 mpg. Some of those hills were posted as 6% grade. The diesel pulled hard the whole way up.

I drag raced a new Explorer with the 4.6L V8 this morning and ran dead even with it.

So as you can see...the power is definitely there, and the economy is better than anything in it's class that will still tow like that. I'll take 24 mpg over the 12 mpg my gas Dodge 1500 got any day of the week.

I have 20,000 miles on my Jeep CRD now and no trouble whatsoever with anything in the driveline. I work mine hard, drive it hard, and off-road it, and use it as a daily driver too. Zero problems so far. And it's got more cubic feet of interior space than the Grand Cherokee. To me you can't beat it. Unless you need a truck for serious loads this Jeep diesel makes a great all-around vehicle.

I think TS Perf ran somewhere around a 16 flat in the 1/4 with theirs last year. The only suv that is in the same size class and gets equal mileage is the little Honda CRV with the 4 cylinder gasser. It's rated at 27 mpg highway and has a towing rating of 1500 pounds. Which is a joke compared to the 5000 pound rating on the Liberty.
