why not sign up for free on Cummins Quickserver Online
https://qsol2.cummins.com/info/qsol/...on/matrix.html
you can enter your engine serial number and get lots of information on the owners manual for what approved for your engine.

Fleetguard and Wix are the only oil filters I use.
Rotella T oil.
AFE Pro Guard 7 air filter.
Fleetguard 2 micron fuel filter on the Airdog.

Ok, someone correct me if this info is wrong....

I used to work for a fleet maintaince company, and we had an ASE master mechanic who oversaw the rest of the mech.'s. he told me that WIX actually manufactors NAPA and a few other filters for those companies. I guess that might be one of the "ford owns cummins" type things, but I have always heard Wix was one of the best filters out there.

So i have always used the WIX filters.
Use Rotella T for engine oil, Mobile Synthetic in the Getrag.....use the same on teh deisel tractor.

And I think the Dana corp owns Wix. You would be amazed at the filters we use to make at Purolater when I worked there. We made the majority of the Mopar stuff. I use Wix oil filters alot because I hate having to fight traffic to get to the Cummins shop in town. And Oreilly's is on every corner. The wifey works in their corp. HR department. That helps alot also.

This thread reminded me that the other day I was in WalMart and I saw a couple of Mopar oil filters. One of them looked about the size of our filters, and sure enough, it was for the Cummins. I've got a pile of Wix filters that I got from fleetfilter.com, so I didn't need one. I've always read that Fleetguard made the Mopar filters, so maybe now you can get them at WalMart. The price was less than $10, maybe $9.89 or so.

On another note, WalMart was also carrying Mopar ATF+4

Well, I've been using NAPA filters, but then I had one burst at the seam on me a couple of days ago and I will be getting fleetguard next time. Had a brand new NAPA oil pressure sending unit spring a leak around the same time..

Likewise, I also will change to Amsoil, but it will be 5W-30 sever synthetic diesel oil. I drained the factory 15W-40 conventional oil and replaced it with 10W-30 ESSO conventional oil to facilitate breaking-in the engine. I replaced the Mopar factory oil filter with a Donaldson ELF7349. When I change again to Amsoil I will install their double by pass fillter.

I now have Amsoil 5W-30 synthetic sever diesel oil in my two tractors with Amsoil oil filters and it is proving to be better then I expected. My Ford loader tractor has no engine thermostat, so I run the radiator blocked off with a board in a fibre glass grain sack. The engine runs at normal temperature usually, except when I pull the harrow in three horse pastures. With conventional 10W-30 engine oil, after two rounds in the first pasture when the engine temperature gets hot I remove the rad cover as the steady pulling keeps the engine temperature up to normal. With Amsoil I noticed that the radiator temperature does not get as hot and I can do the entire pasture without removing the cover off the radiator. Only if I increase the ground velocity by puilling in a higher gear, then the engine coolant temperature gets hot with Amsoil in the crankcase oil pan. I am sold on Amsoil for my Dodge Cummins, and already have Amsoil gear lube oil in my differentials and ATF+4 in my G-6 and Transfer case.

Something else to remember when you see that "Super-Dooper" sale on Oil Filters in a Dollar Store, Flea Market, or on the Internet.

The 16035 will work on 2nd gens....the original 2nd gen Stratapore filter is the 3894. For the minimal cost to obtain the highest quality oil filter, I just don't see the reasoning for not running the 3894. And for the record, I use Rosmella T Dino lotion.
