I have heard that alot of people run those, can you only get them at the Dodge or Cummins house? Or can you get them over the counter somewhere?

Since you started this thread, someone please post the oils and filters that are "approved" by Dodge/Cummins. I have heard that there are only a few oils and 2 or 3 oil filters that are approved. I would also like to know if there is a list of "approved" air filters too.

You can get the Fleetgaurd from Mopar but they are triple the price, same filter with the mopar logo. I have gotten them from my local New Holland tractor dealer and also Geno's. I know Shell Rotella T and Chevron Delo, I think it is called are aproved oils.

TSB on approved oil filters.....(might be updated)
http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2001/09-004-01.htm

Only Fleetguard Stratopore (Now Cummins Filtration) on my $4,000 option Cummins powered truck.
I wouldn't use a Fram on my lawnmower.
I almost lost a 318 gasser engine in my old '90 Dodge to a Fram.

Oils are a personal choice, I use Valvoline Premium Blue 'cuz that's what Cummins fills them with from the factory.

I switched over to Amsoil Marine Grade diesel oil today with a K&N Premium Gold filter. Should be good for another 30,000 miles until its time to change again.

The Cummin's dealership that I tend to buy from only sell Baldwin's; no Fleetgaurd there. So I use Baldwin's usually. I've used a Wix a couple of times due to availability, and a Fram a couple of times when my Dad's bought me oil changes at Wal*Mart.

Altough I hate using the Fram. I've never heard anything good about them; I know personally one guy that grenaded his Cummins due to a Fram at the first oil change.

these are by far the best from research i have been doing over the past year not just for the ctd but any diesel.the only problem is they are high dollar filters ranging from 16 to 22 dollars ouch .but if you want the best here they are purolator pure one pl45335 & amsoil eao88.the stratopore seems to be in the best buy catorgy.
