Talking Killed an Allison this weekend!

Well i was helping move my girlfriends mom from st. louis back to chicago so I rented a 26 ft penske truck. It was International 4300 with a Dt466 and a allison auto. Got the truck all loaded after 5 hrs and took off to stay in a hotel overnight so we can leave nice and early. I got 5 miles from her moms old place and the tranny started bucking really bad at stop lights. I went through about 3 lights after it started bucking before it died in a left hand turn lane on a busy road. It was done, no drive no reverse just park and neutral. I sat waiting for a wrecker to come fetch me and decided to try moving it again and this time it worked barely just enough to get me off the road. I got the truck into a parking lot and the tranny didn't like the 500 ft trip to the lot, it was slipping like hades and bucking and finally gave it up once and for all as soon as i got into the lot. I ended up waitng an hr and the wrecker showed up hooked me aand took me to the nearest penske service center in St Peters MO where they got me a new truck and loaded all the stuff from one truck to the other for me. They have awesome service by far compared to any other truck leasing company i've delt with or heard of.

The wrecker that hauled me in was a pretty nice peterbilt 378 with a big cummins and a 13 spd. I'm thinking it was an signature or a N14. the driver just said it was powerful and big which it fine. Any of you guys ever break down in the st louis area i highly recomend calling Bolins Services to tow you, they are good people and good service.

I'm sure that, for insurance and lawsuit purposes, you intentionally failed to mention the 20 PSI powerbraking in order to get a jump on the Powerstroke in the lane over.

I doubt he would need to power brake inorder to beat a PS off the line...

LOL ya I iwsh i could have raced someone in it, although a PSD would still have to give me about a 10 sec head start. Those DT466's at least in the penske trucks have no power what so ever but i did manage to pull about 11 - 12 mpg on the way home in the new truck they gave me.
