Like everyone else said, most likely cause is the transfer pump. Although worst case could be an injector or a cracked barrel in the pump. It runs fine without any missing right?
yes it runs fine, no missing, only thing that is kinda concerning me is it puts off a steady blue haze at idle. Anybody have any thoughts on that?

Thanks

Steady blue haze at cold idle or hot idle? I'm sure its pretty safe to say its got some time on it. Not many people buy 4640's to look at, they use them.
If the haze disappears when its warmed up I wouldn't worry about it.

I agree fully, if it goes away within 30 mins then i wouldnt worry. Our 4840 had a turbocharger pushing oil, but it isnt a very common problem, so it might be that if the haze persists. One of my dads 4840's would push a blue haze until you put a load behind it and it ran good and did so until he traded it off a few years ago. Could be Rings. Oil Pressure's good right?

Yeah now that we worked on it some today, I'm pretty shure the smoke is just from being cold. We took the transfer pump off of it today, it does look pretty clean on the internals, we're going to flush the oil system tommorow and get the new pump on there and see how it goes, thanks for the help guys.
