Jack for Lifted Truck

Howdy all. I've been lurking for a long time and appreciate all of the valuable information on the site. I've got kind of a dumb question, but one that I must ask.

I put a 4.5 inch lift on my truck (2005 2500 4x4) with 35in tires. To solve the spare dilema, I bought an extra 315/70/17 BFG as I knew they fit in the spare spot under the bed. The problem is, the tire does me no good if I can not lift the truck up. The factory jack is just too short. I need some suggestions here.

Keep in mind that the jack needs to be small enough not to take up a bunch of room in the tool box in the bed. I have to take it everywhere. It also needs to be strong enough that I do not have to worry about it breaking on my on some farm road at midnight.

What do you guys with lifted truck recommend? Is there a special extended jack that I just can not find? Thanks all, I look forward to being a member here.

I've got almost 20" under the axle on one of my trucks. All you need is a few 6x6 chunks, 1 good bottle jack, and 1 good ratcheting jackstand. Jack as far as the bottle jack will go, post the jack stand, then release the jack. Add the 6x6 and repeat. Chock more than one wheel also, as the weight of the truck can shift as you raise it. Been there, dropped the truck, changed my pants, lesson learned. I've seen a telescoping bottle jack, but haven't found them available in the states. SD

For some reason, even though I've made a few posts, my count still reads as zero? My cookies settings are correct, any ideas?

Thumbs up Bottle jacks

I picked up a 12-ton at Sears for $39.99. It effortlessly lifts my truck and stores compactly. I carry a block with me for offroad. Flats in the states are covered by AAA.

I got a 12 ton bottle jack and also carry a couple pieces of 4x6 and 6x6. That's about the only answer that will work for your needs under the circumstances. I like the idea of having a jack stand, would make it very safe as well, but the bottle jack does the job nicely. Even with a stock truck I would not trust the POS that comes with the truck, it is truly junk, my Miata came with a better jack.

Wow, thanks for the great reply's. I'll look in the paper today for a bottle jack. If I do not find anything, I'll place an order with the site above. Thanks again for the help. Have a good Labor Day weekend.

I also use a bottle jack. I actually got mine mounted in the stock posistion under the rear seat along with a 4 way "cross" lug nut wrench. Of course I did have to use a new rubber "bunge" strap and a little manipulation of the stock brackets.

Pep boys sells a bottle jack/ jackstand combination. I have one and its great. The jack stand part extends as normal and then the bottle jack lifts the whole thing, then locks into position when youre ready. Surely theres a pep boys in DFW

Well, I went and picked up a 12ton Bottle Jack at Northern Tool for $20.00. I believe the manufacturer is Big Red. I just saw the Pep
Boys ad and there was a 20ton for $19.99 after a mail in rebate. Oh well. Thanks again for the advise everyone. This is exactly what I needed.
