In addition to the 97 12 valve, I also own a 1986 Ford F350 with a 6.9.
It has been cold here for the past week, single digits, wind chills about -10.
The Dodge fires right up every time.
The Ford is a bit of a handful to get going. Dont get me wrong it will run, but not as easy as the Dodge.
Neither truck gets plugged in.

Only when i know its gonna be like -20 out will i plug either truck in. the ferd usually takes 3 turns of the key (Glow Plugs) and a little fuel pedal. My truck i turn the key, let the wait start light to go out, and crank it right started.

All I can say is that both of my trucks will fire up at -15 without being plugged in; no pedal, no extra glow plug/grid heater cycles.
