Like with a muscle car and the horsepower and touque, the higher it goes the more the insurence alot of times. I wonder is it the same with these diesel trucks that we love so much. I hardly ever see a wrecked diesel truck as often as i see a fast car that has been wrecked

I think that what it is used for comes into play. I can't complain about what I'm paying for insurance for my truck. I was paying a bit more to insure a '93 with full coverage and an '86 with minimum coverage. Now I only pay for the '04 in my signature, not a lot of difference but a few dollars less.

I was looking @ insurance coverage ratings for the Big 3's trucks. For some reason, our RAM's are rated higher (more money to insure) than the other two manufacturers. I do not know why this is? Maybe someone in the insurance biz can chime in and tell us. My rate is 352 every 6 months with 1k deductables on comp and collision and no PIP with no blemishes.

352 every 6 months in DFW. Wow must be nice. I'm paying close to $600 for an 02' truck.

I guess its because our Rams are tougher than the other 2 manufactures so if something gets messed up it will cost a bit more but you know its made better than the old ford adn GM junk

Did you say $600 U.S./yr insurance for an '02?

I'm paying $1100 Canadian/yr for a '93.
But then again I did have one accident in 24 years.
Just my luck it hadta' be a superior court judge.

I was told by my agent that my truck was very high on the list for repair cost. If you lift the hood, you can see how even a light to medium hit in the front would be very expensive to repair.

It costs me more to cover my '01 truck than my wife's '03 Honda CRV. Both are still reasonably priced though.

A was told there is a couple of reasons for the higher insurance.

1. This truck is the easiest to steal.

2. The cost of parts is much higher in a total situation.

This is just what I was told by my agent, 717.12/6 mo

I gotta disagree with ya on that one. I was at a body shop two weeks ago and there was Ram pickup in there with some minor front end damage. When I talked to the body man, he said he was amazed at how LITTLE damage was done considering the other car was totalled. The only damage was the hood, grille, part of the bumper cover and it pushed the rad cradle support off the rubber grommets at the bottom. He said that roll bar style rad cradle makes the front of the Rams almost indestructable.
He explained how the rad wasn't even touched and still had a ways to go before it came near the fan.
He's impressed at how they are all holding up in accidents.
I'll stay with the DODGE and day of the week........

Actually, it's the reverse. Our trucks are not easily damaged. It's the damage it causes to other vehicles. That is what I was told by an Allstate agent. He said that most trucks will be more to insure and that includes SUV's. It is the trend now in the insurance biz. I still think it's a crock. But, looking @ some of the other rates people get on these things, I guess I can't complain about what I am paying. But the funny thing is, I pay 352/ 6 months on mine, and my wifes 04 Passat is 317/ 6 months. I posed that question to my insurance agent "My wife's car is only 35 bucks cheaper, based on your answer it should be @ least 100 less." Well, he stated I am getting a very good rate because I am clean and that I also insure my home with them.

INSURANCE FRAUD!

If there's anybody defrauding around here.......... It's the cut-throat insurance companies ripping off JOE PUBLIC and using any excuse possible to make more profit off our backs.
Canada should go back to government run insurance like they had years ago.

And to anybody defrauding the insurance company.......GOOD FOR YOU! They deserve to get a little rip-off back.

Personally, I hate "big insurance." I think it's all a scam. They need to base your insurance on your personal record and not some generic statistics of a group of a certain age.

I love getting ripped off every 6 months!
