Impossibly good winter MPG-- 18.2!

I just hand calculated 210 miles/11.5 gallons. Yes, that's 18.2mpg!

Impressive for winter fuel?

How about for a 4x4?

That never gets plugged in?

That's used only for short trips?

That has the tire pressure dropped to 43F/35R?

That has 400# gravel in the back for traction?

That is a late 2002 without the CAD so all the 4x4 parts are continuously dragging?

Now, I don't put too terribly much stock in any one single fillup. But this one was at the same station, SAME PUMP as the last fillup. I topped off the tank the same as I always do.

This last tank I had Smarty on #5, but I'm going back down to #3, because with the big injectors #3 is more controllable on bumpy roads.

I personally suspect it may have something to do with the combination of Fuel Power additive and Redline Diesel Catalyst.

The engine is running SMOOOOOTHER than it ever has lately. I can't know for sure if the additives are the reason-- but I'm going to keep up with the current program.

My mileage went up substantially this tank. I was hoping it was going to become a trend!

My mileage went down... i run cetane booster and 2 stroke oil. its about 35 here in the morning i let it idle for maybe 10 minutes in the morning at 1200rpm. think thats my problem? or just cuz its #1 diesel? my mileage on the freeway was 24.7 but dropped dramatically to 15.8 after after getting back to my country driving. keep it around 55. my pyro is 500 and my boost is 7ish. any ideas?

I've been averaging from 15.8 to 16.3mpg on this winterized fuel. That's with about 70/30 hwy/city driving. I can touch 20mpg on highway if I keep it sane. I use the FP fuel stuff also along with some straight 30w non detergent oil in my diesel. Summer fuel should see me from 18-19mpg regularly. Can't complain bout' that...

Surprisingly my last fillup showed a mileage increase, too. No drastic change in driving style. I got 16.5 and I have been around 15.7 this winter, around town mostly. I run 2 stroke or Power Service white bottle per recommended dilution.

Replace your IAT sensor.

I've been through a trip to Detroit and got 16.5mpg pulling a 30ft gooseneck flatbed at 65mph. I will be doing it again tomorrow, I'll be driving by you Hohn......

Idling for a long period every morning does burn a lot of fuel. It especially affects fuel mileage if you don't have a very long commute(higher percentage of time idling). The mileage drop from winter fuel seem to be 2-4mpg.

I filled up yesterday and got 19mpg which isn't bad for the winter and the type of driving that I have been doing. In summer I complain if I get below 20.
