General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

I'm not quit sold on a diesel yet

I owned a chevy tahoe before I bought my CTD. I Hardly ever tow anything or really need the towing power, but the fact that these trucks hold their resale incredibly and last forever when properly taken care of(grandpa has a 96-3500 with over 500k on it with very minimal repairs) they are more efficient, i get 20mpg compared to 11-12 in the tahoe and it has more than twice the power when im driving through the mtns to go snowboarding. I will never buy a gas truck again over a diesel. Only if dodge put a diesel in the durango(OBS) i woulda bought that in a second.

Oh yes! Amen brother, but only if they go back to the pre-minivan Durango body style.

Hey, everybody makes bad, misguided decisions sometime!

If I could, I'd get rid of this Ford today and buy a Dodge of my choice...but until that day, I'm stuck.

I've learned a whole lot on this forum about various diesels, and my common sense now tells me I need a Cummins in a bad way!
look on the bright side: at least you didn't get one of the 6.0 PSD disasters

i would have to agree with bulbula, it depends on what you are using your truck for. The diesels are great for longivity and fuel mileage, but the new gas engine are getting great mileage and longivity now days. People use to buy a diesel just because the cost of fuel was so cheap but we all know that sucks anymore. I own a diesel repair shop and when it comes to repairing a diesel it sucks because it is so expensive and everything about them is, however starters on gas or diesel are running about the same cost. If it weren't for me owning a repair shop and getting parts at cost I would most likely own a gasser(i.e. nissan titan wife owns one and is awesome). Good luck in your decision.
