Question If there was no CTD, what would you have?

If the CTD was not available, for whatever reason, what would you have?

7.3 PSD, good engine (despite the overly complex injection system) that couldn't meet emissions

Chevy and DuraTurd...Maybe the 8.1L, but depends on how much driving I was doing

If I didn't like the Cummins so much, I'd have one now. A couple family members work/worked for GM

i'd probably have a dodge gasser pickup, b/c i not only love cummins, i'm a huge lover of dodge/mopar so that is more than likely what i would have.

Well I picked powerstroke and not meaning the worthless pile of crap they have now. I have heard and seen good things out of the 7.3 but did not like the idea of a v8 diesel....hard to work on in the truck.

Well I answered with the GM/DM,,,,,, but that's only if I bought one now. If it had been back when I bought my CTD in 99,,,,,,, I would have went with the 7.3 PS which I looked at real hard when I decided to go diesel. A buddy of mine had just bought a black PS superduty then and I still think it's a good looking truck,,,,,,, not as good looking as my Ram,,,,,,,,, but a close 2nd. The GM wasn't even an option then,,, past track record was the biggest reason and I really didn't know a thing about diesels, but had heard plenty from the folks that had the older GMs.

Well I would never buy any foreign job for my truck, I think they would struggle with that 20,000 pounds of mules I haul. I would have to go Ford but I come from a family of longtime Ford owners. But like many I hate the 6.0, I actually had a F550 on order and a 24 valve ready to drop but decided to just get the Dodge and cancelled my order. And the only thing that is worth a **** on the Chevy and GMC is the seats.

I agree here

i didnt see that option, I would assume a 6.0 is the p stroke everyone talks about now. BUT i did vote on this poll for a chevy duramax in this case. I love that allsion tranny shift, and they run pretty darn quick too..

IF gas was my only option, id go with a vortec 6.0, or a 5.7 vortec in a chevy. I had fords, and dodges, but i love how simple the chevy gassers are under the hood..
