I agree, more so now that the C7 and C9 have a common rail fuel system.
A little extra competition never hurt anyone, especially the consumer.

I'd like to see some too...Maybe Ford should negotiate with Cat since their relationship isn't going so swell with Navistar right now, no? My only beef is that Cats are SUPER tough and SUPER strong...I'd hate to see the day that a Ford was the dominant diesel

I don't know, I'm not knocking my Dodge but you can't beat the interior room of a Ford and the quality of the "King Ranch" interior. (as far a room I'm excluding the Mega Cab due to the short bed.)

I hear ya man...but I didn't buy my truck based on interior...I'm happy enough with mine. I would NEVER throw my dog in the back seat of a King Ranch (heck, sometimes I have a problem with putting him in my truck and I don't even have leather)...I bought my truck because it has the most reliable motor. Cats would be VERY competitive...and if put in a Ford, MIGHT become my "old man's truck"...

Yeah, the KR is nice. A buddy of mine just bought a '05 F250 CC 4x4 KR with 50k miles on it. Only paid $22k. Talk about resale value!
Already sent him the link to www.fordcummins.com

Yes...but you also pay a nice premium for that, something not everyone wants to spend.

For all you guys that think CAT is the way to go, if the C7's don't run any better than the 2 3126E's I've got, I don't want one! The 210hp version I have will handle 50Klbs, but anything above 30K, if you see a hill, you'll be grabbing gears like crazy! Toped one the other day at 35Klbs and 40mph! My little old Dodge at 30K will truck right on up a hill in 5th, at least 10mph faster! The other one is a 330hp in a 330 Pete, and it's a little better, but not much! If anyone's been to Central Ohio, we don't have that big of hills

If you can keep them wound up, like 2500RPM+, they aren't terrible. But they don't have the typical CAT bottom end!

Maybe the CR engines are better, and it's just the junk HEUI that's the problem!

A place I haul out of has a KW T300 with the 8.3 Cummins and it's the same way. You would think the larger displacement engine would run better than the smaller ones (5.9) but it's not always the case. Authough the KW still pulls better than the F-450/550 it replaced.
