I just put a set of Firestone Transforce a/t's on my 06.
those are my second choice

I was shocked when I saw that and had to look at another tire just like it to be sure it was not a mistake on the imprint on the tire. When you ask about it you get the line of BS that today's ply's are much better then in the old days and that a one ply is as good as 4 ply of yesteryear. To me the sidewall felt very thin/flimsy and felt like you could almost put a hole in it with your fingers.

The Good Year Silent Armour have done well in all conditions, wear well too.
If you just need a road tire their Wrangler tires do OK. The road Micheliens are also good. There are lots of excellent tires, Cooper, Toyo, Goodrich.
I would stay with Load range E, otherwise, asking for trouble.
