And I Just Washed Her...

This afternoon I get a call from my son, he says his friend drove into the Auglaize River and got his truck stuck.

Told his dad he was bored and wanted to see what the old exploder could do in riverine ops.

I brought two chains and a tow strap, I managed to back about 1/4 mile down the river and not sink the truck.

We hooked two chains together and the father, who was taking all of this very well, drove the truck as I snatched it out.

He hooked the chain to the outside of the right axle, his left front wheel was in a bind against a rock, when I tried to ease out and take it slow I sank.

I'd have to yank it, his left front tie broke snapped when I gave it a good yank and got it out of the hole.

The peanut gallery on the bank heard it go.

I dragged him to a spot in the river where he could try the same rout the kids came in

Parts of the river were soft soil

He managed to drive it up the bank and take a minute to survey the damage.

She still looks pretty good...

Truck would not start to drive the rest of the way out of the river bottom. I had to tow him about a half mile to a church parking lot.

I talked to my son there and asked if he had encouraged the lad to float test the exploder. He said he kept telling him to turn back.

I managed to slip the clutch getting into the river with the truck sinking into the soil. I had fun, no one was hurt but I feel pretty bad for the driver and his dad.

Dern kids.

Sure glad it was that kind of mischief they got into, and not sooooomany other things...

Sometimes, you really have to have a sense of humor and count your blessings, don't you?
