That bio pump in Garner was rock solid at $1.699 for a long time. then they jumped a nickel just over a month ago.
the station in Durham was solid at $1.699 for awhile and they just jumped a dime a week ago, same time as everyone else.

I'd run B20 exclusively if I lived near a pump...

Awesome! I think I might have to take a road trip out and get a tank!

It was the Special Agents from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles that more than likely dipped your tank.. They have uniforms similar to the state police, but the background on the arm patch is a maroon color (SP is dark blue I believe). Also the IRS agents go out with them at times.

These agents spend most of their time checking for dyed fuel. But they do have other responsibilities as well.

I'm down below Petersburg on Rt.460 in Prince George County. We have a fairly good sized group of folks in the VADTR Chapter #7 here, so click on the link in my sig and fill out a membership form if you would like to be included on our email list of local activities. We look forward to meeting ya.

I might add to this that along with the died fuel it is also against the law to put the drain oil in the tank. Usually overlooked but you could get the fine for black fuel. I have never used red fuel but do run my drain oil through the tank. Half gallon every other tank until the little over 2 gallons are gone. I get a mileage increase while doing it and no difference in the filter lifetime that is noticable. The reason for the small amount is so the black color is not pronounced.

Wow -- I didn't know black fuel was illegal. I know several farmers who do that on and off the fields, but never heard of anyone being pinched for it. Have you been dipped, Haulin? Has anyone else been pulled over by a roadblock, etc. to be checked for red fuel?

I have never been personally checked, but a while back I did check into the law. There were trucking concerns all over America that did that, up to 10% waste oil, they all had to stop. The EPA people got into it and the IRS got into it over tax evasion.

Sounds like a biodiesel producer in IA City. He made his own fuel from used frier oil and burned it in his VW TDI. Well, he decided to get media happy, touting the envirnmental benefits, green fuels, etc. Had a nice radio piece done and an extensive newspaper article written. Yep -- the DOT and the State Treasurer's offices went after him for unpaid fuel taxes. In an uproar, the guy tried using his new media friends to get a green fuel exemption. I say he should pay, since it is the road tax they are after, since he drives his vehicle on the public highways like everyone else. I have plans to make Biodiesel in quantity for farmers and others, but will definitely be keeping track of road use so I don't wind up in court. The fines and possible loss of my truck are no gamble to me, it is out of the question! If only he kept his mouth shut...

edit: Any idea where I can find that red dye? I just got an email from an attorney friend questioning my personal liability if someone else who bought biodiesel from me for farm use used it on the highway......

Wait a minute You take your used engine oil out and run it right back through your tank? What kind of oil are you runnin, Haulin? I've never heard of that but then again I am new to the diesel thing (Exactly 1 year next weekend). This is very interesting. What if you would run more than a half gallon through would it have negative affects?

you can drive an electric vehicle without paying highway tax on the fuel, if you have a car that'll run on orange peels, you should be able to drive it... fuggem!!

For years Cummins has a system called the Centinel system , we take a certain amount of engine oil and burn it with the fuel and new engine oil would flow into the oil system , basically it changed your oil for you while driving down the road , it never was legal in CA , and many other states now .
