It has 3.55 gears so I don't know if that is good or bad. I hope I can get close to 20 MPG on the long trip back

Looks like a good truck, the salvage title is the only thing that concerns me man. If I were you, I would leave yourself an "out" if you get there and find it;s not to your satisfaction. Test out EVERYTHING before you leave, make certain it is as they indicate that it "is." I wish they showed some before and after whots of the rig, as they recieved it. I also am curious to see the "straightened" frame. But it sounds like the used new parts, including a new bed, which is expensive. I really hope it works out well for you!

There is always an out. May not be the cheapest thing in the World (would lose the money for the travel to that point) but I could just ditch and catch a plane back home or to my Dad's place. The motor has 5k miles on it. It was replaced under warranty at 79k and the truck now has 84k miles. I verified this with the place that did it with dates and mileage. It cost $6200 for that!

Where is everyone? I see like 580 people on here but not many reponses. Over on out Buick boards we MAYBE get 200 at the highest peaks but the posts move fast over there.

Maybe I should take my own filter with me in case it doesn't have the Fleetguard

It's got new paint too. Shouldn't have to mess with it for at least 4-5 years.

That's a nice looking truck! Exactly what I want to haul my 97 around with in another 2 years or so! Right down to the 3.55 gears!

$12K.......that's less than I paid for my 97.......you lucky SOB! Hope its everything it appears to be!

I pretty much will only have myself to look it over. What things do you think I should look for closely?

This will be my second salvage vehicle Yes I am a glutton! My everyday car is a Honda that still books to this day for $7,000. I got it about 8 months ago for $3,900 and it is just a dream. Looks like brand new inside and out, a Granny's car with 51k original on the clock. It has every option but the sunroof which is killer. Love it!

Looks clean. The gears should be good for the highway, proabably a little short for heavy towing though.
The salvage title is a it scary, there was just someone on here that went to pick up their new truck, got it home for state inspection, $ 4,000 in repairs needed.
It takes a pretty good hit to "total" one of these trucks.

Good luck, let us know how everyting goes.

Intercooler, the truck looks nice. Not to change the subject, but which Buick site are you going to? I need to find out some info about the TPS sensor. The car shifts hard but not all the time.

Your TPS has nothing to do with the shifts. Your TV cable is what controls the shift quality and RPM ranges. This is the black plastic piece with teeth on the bottom side and a push-button on the front face to move it back and forth. The way I always set mine is to move it all the way to the back, get in the car and mash the gas to the floor. You will hear it clicking as it ratchets out into position. If it doesn't feel right you can move it a couple of teeth. Your 1-2 shift should occur at about 30 MPH under normal acceleration. This is if you have a 86-87 GN, T-Type or Turbo-T.

That was me that bought that truck, i would advise checking before you fly out to make sure it doesn't happen to you.

I am stuck in the middle of a pretty big mess right now , the stop payment on my check didn't go through fast enough , so he's got my money , he agreed to return it, but he has already spent half of it. check my thread tonight for an update.
