How's the CTD market in your area?

Looking on autotrader, it seems that they are asking over $20K for trucks that are older than mine with higher mileage!

In my area its stupid. Guys with 1st gens that are mint are sadly getting 12-15 grand (Canadian $$) and a nice low kms 03' will run high 20s to mid 30s.

I guess you gotta pay to have decent diesel motor under the hood. The same trucks with gas motors go for FAR less, go figure...

CTD's aren't common around here. Even most HD's I see have the Hemi. Even the work trucks. I started out looking for an 03 or 04 two years ago, but the few I found (all auto's) were very close to what I could get a new one for @ invoice minus incentives.

On ocassion, I'll do a search for an 05 w/ a stick on autotrader. I usually have to go a few hundred miles to find one for sale and they've always been big moula!

A two year old like mine but w/the hemi is low to mid twenties. The same truck with an auto & CTD will be close to 30, if not more.

a 95-97 12v is anywhere from $12k - $16k and the 03-04 24v are $20k - $24k

12v's are about as common as a Nissan Skyline here...

I am a huge skyline freak, I am actually fortunate to have seen a 2001 r34 GTR several times driving in my area and let me tell you they are rare as can be plus a pretty penny Now back on the subject

2nd gens here are sort of rare but 3rd gens are everywhere. I can't comment on the market too much, there are rarely any in the want ads, 1 or 2 any given weekend. Maybe its just me but it seems the Kelly Blue Book Prices for a 2ng gen CTD is lower than what people are listing for and way lower than the prices people try to get on E-Bay and Autotrader. You definately get your $5000 engine price back when you sell and then some compared to the same truck with a V-8 or V-10.

around here a second gen...98-02 24v with reasonable milage...100-150k can and do fetch 17k..as long as they are straight.

95-98 12v usually have high millage but go for 9-14k

and 03-05 can get above 20 with the right millage..

i got a great deal but had to go 500 miles away...fly in and drive home.

99 single owner all records, and 120k on the meter and a straight body with very good paint..for much lower than market is asking...i just got lucky.

94-98's go for around 8-16k here.

Once I got one, I realized how many cummins there are around here. I pass one every couple minutes. But man do they hold on to them, Because when I was looking to buy one there weren't any for sale, and when they were they were sold the same day. Thats why they can sell for so much.

the last time i looked at any cummins, private or dealer, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gen, i was gonna have to sell one of my kidneys and maybe a lung plus get a loan for atleast 10K. man body parts aint just going for what they used too, there is 2 old men with 1st gens around here that look to have just rolled off the showroom floor, perfect 1 owner old man trucks, well worth 10K plus probably, there is a dealer up in mount vernon that wants 12K to 15K for 160K plus mileage trucks and they are in crappy shape.

Not many diesels around here, but I always see a bunch when I make it west into the hills. Most the lots are full of overpriced fords, although there is one that ships in trucks from Texas.

Lots of diesels where I live. But most are Powerjunks! I run into a 12v maybe once a week. I can sense one without having to look. I see more 24v's than 12v's though. People do definately hold onto them. You rarely see them for sale in our local car trader. Average asking price for my truck is about $13k.

Lots of deisels in Alberta and use ones go for a retarded amount of money. Cheapest 2nd gen I ever saw was 6900$ that got you a truck with EVERY body panel dented/rusted beond repair, dirty riped up interior, leaking from almost every seal motor with 340,000km on it.

Someone bought it.
