How many miles on your 2nd gen 24valve..... ?
#2
188,275 miles on mine. Can't guarantee everything done by PO's but I know that all of the front end steering components (trac bar, ball-joints etc) have been replaced and I had to put a new head and head gasket in the week after I bought it. Other mods/improvements are in my sig.

244K. New trans, VP, lots of lift pumps, front end stuff and the usual parts that need replacing (brake pads, etc). I'm going for 500K but I'll probably be dead by the time I get there!!!!!!!!!!

Any tricks to have both pumps original with that many miles ?
Thanks !

162,xxx on my 2000 now, the current engine has 8000 and counting. The original engine has 154,000 and won't be getting any more, cracked 53. Bought it with 68000 miles, put a lift pump and changed to a different lift pump system shortly after. Injection pump before 90,000, crank sensor around 115,000, had the tone ring blow up on me around 135,000, and the block crack at 154,000. All the other stuff like ball joints, u-joints I consider normal, the engine to me was junk right from day one.

On the lift pump life question, I've replaced two stock lift pumps. The first one I did right after I installed a fuel pressure gauge when I first signed up at TDR (about a year after getting my truck). I replaced it again a year or so later. Around that same time, I upgraded to a "Big Line" kit that replaced all of the banjo fittings with AN fittings. I've now been running on that same stock LP for around 7-8 years and I still never see less than 10psi (cruise at 12psi, idle at 13-14psi).

We'll, I haven't had it in a long time, but my 2001 rolled to 180,000 miles exactly as I pulled into the dealer parking lot to buy my current ride. 1 crankshaft position sensor(under warranty), 2 sets of front brake pads, and one set of u-joints. That was it.
