How fast will it really go?

How fast will it really go?
I was kinda wondering what my truck would do. It's a 2001 HO 6spd with a 4.10 rear end and I've been worried to take it over 80mph (~2600rpm). Well, last night I figured it out. I figured one speed run wouldn't hurt, so I was on the longest straightest bridge here, and WOT!!!!! I maxed out at 3100rpm and 101mph. Then later at a stop light I was remembering a guy's question as to governed speed,.....that would be 3300rpm. Now that I know, I'll be keeping it down to that 80mph limit I had before. But what a rush. rock solid all the way past 100. I love my truck. Now I can't wait to get a comp.

-SFB

Well I have never had my truck up to 101 but it is such a rush to really put your foot into it and haul @#* and smoke everyone out. That really is a blast to just cover everything and everyone in smoke. I still the first time I tried it. Some little car was just riding me on 13 hwy and I was just sick of it so I just thought I'll just get them off my butt. So I put my foot into it and was screaming. Looked behind me to see how far back they were and all I saw was smoke ;D. I just love that. ;D -Anthony

Hello yz

When you raise the hood look just left of the master cylinder you'll see two wire bundles, look at the bundle closet to the master cylinder and find the white wire with orange tracer, disconnect it and there you have it,but it won't work on your 12 valver, you need governer springs and so fort to work on yours

Also if you want to use the cruise control, the switched will need to be engauged then also.

Least that's how it was always explained to me.

Not trying to be a nag boys - but our truck tires ain't built to take that kind of speed. You lose a tire at 100+ and you'll be hurtin'! ;D

Best to y'all
Bill

Never required a switch for my truck...saw 230 KMH clocked by a cop car once.
But thats with a Scotty Air. heheheheh

I agree, those heavy tires are not for speed and just as I was thinking I had more top end left, I got that puckered feeling and backed out. Its not a good thing to have a truck that weighs 9000 pounds [mine does the way it outfitted] tumbling down the road. Trust me on that one...been there done that and tore up the T-shirt with my body doing it. :'(

Don't know about the rev limiter, I've seen about 3600 rpm on mine racing a D-Max. I topped out at about 114 but was running out of road. With a little time (ie distance) I think I coulda got about 117 out of it. These tall trucks move alot of air.

Duane
I have seen 126 or so it is way floatly up there. I was playing with a super charged Mustang. And when I check the speed-o out he beat me :, but up until 126 I had him ;D

Got to luv that 4K governer spring kit. If I had the guts I would say my truck would do 135 or so...

This is one of the only vehicle I have had that I haven't found the top speed of.

Dee, I was heading South Sat morn had some room so I took her up to 105 up the point of the mountain, still had pedal left, backed off before the top and started down and there was a highway man with one pulled over, backed right off real quick.
