How bout a 97 F350 GAS...?

I used to own a white 97 F350 4x4 regular cab powerstroke. The last of the best lookin ford body style IMO. Man, what a sharp truck that was. It wasnt a powerhouse but always got compliments and i ended up selling it for big $$$.

I took that money and found a nice 02 dodge diesel reg cab 2500 4x4 6 speed. Again a very, very nice truck but couldnt turn down the offers and sold it.

Now for the past year i've been driving the 84 chevy rustbucket i've had since 18 (now 29) and found a very nice white F350 identical to the one i used to own, but this one is a gasser but pretty cheap in price. It's either a 5.8 or a 460 i assume. Should that 460 run as good as the stock 7.3 in the F350 i used to have?? Yea i know it will suck the gas...The prices of these 2000-02 dodge reg cab diesels are just too high for me right now.

The 460 is a good engine, with a lot of potential, but I don't think it will run with the 7.3
My dad had a powerstroke, with a 5 speed and 4.10's. He how has a 6.8 V-10 with a 6 speed and 4:30's, and it doesn't pull like the powerstroke did.

My friend sold just that configuration of Ford. With the heavy 460 ci it drank gas and panic stops with the rear drums was a white knuckle affair. it also squeaked up a storm in Baja offroad.

With all the gas that thing will drink you would end up paying as much in gas that paying a little more for a diesel would be a better bet, IMO. That being said, when I worked for the city back home we had a 1 ton dump with a 460, and she pulled pretty decent (although again, you could watch the gas guage drop)
