i bet it would have been closer if the ford had some weight to it but the cummins prolly still would have pulled it

He was a complete idiot when it came to burnouts and trying to do donuts. He peeled his rear tire off the rim on a curb the first time and did not learn.

The guy in the Ford has been my best friend since 3rd grade. His truck is not stock. It dynoed at 388hp and 730ft-lbs. In the first pull he was in 2wd he put in 4wd for the second pull. I dont take too kindly to ANYBODY calling him an idiot. I fail to see the reason for him being called an idiot. We brought those tires down in the back of my truck just for the purpose of burning them up, he road down on a set of 35"s. I'll admit that him cutting the wheel back and forth while spinning the tires with so many people wasnt the best idea in the world. If anybody else has any coments about my friend send me a PM and I'll tell you how I really feel! In my opinion it wasnt a fare fight. He pulled against a truck with twice the HP and 1900 extra pounds, that don't sound fare to me, and I want to know why nobody had the ***** to hook up right away like he did. After he hooked up the strap he waited for atleast 10 min. for anyone else to hook up. So what I want to know is since everyone has such negative things to say about his truck, Why didnt any of you hook up? This is not directed at everyone, just the select few that talk smack and have nothing to back it up

That is true,

now u mean to tell me that was an 800 RWHP dodge he was up against? Im more prone to believe HP was about 100 over the ford, but the TQ musta been at least 200-300 foot pound more, that i do believe. the fact that he was up against an 800 horse monster dont add up.. Then again 388 and 730 is stout, very stout, My truck read out in san antone at 376 RWHP and 903 Ft Lbs of TQ, Then again that is beyond this point, the 1900 lbs of weights really didnt do much but hurt the ford man, yes it was an unfair fight, but too many factors made it look that way, weight, and no four wheel drive.. the second pull was a little more credible.. yet still the dodge won, it all comes down to TQ on the dodge and lower end, provided both trucks were unloaded and equal as can be (not enginewise, cause neither were to begin with) there would be much more part breakage, and the fight mighta been more fair, Primary reason i hesistate to pull bumpers is cause i cannot afford it, i have pulled a chevy 6.0 gassser only cause i knew i could.. it was no contest, then again I knew better, he didnt, lesson learned.. Smoked clutches, and smoked tires, broken u joints etc, all add up to money i dont have, so id rather not do it if i dont have to, Ill admit it took guts on both their parts to do so, for that i admire them, and still it was a nice video to see..

I'll say this ... both drivers were 'not too brite'.

Find to do this on a dirt road with everyone FAR AWAY.

What do you think would happen if the tow line snapped with that many people so close!
Want to see a severed head or torso?
How about a u-joint break and a driveshaft flying out into the crowd!

They were lucky this time, maybe not next.

Keep it on the dirt track in 4X4 for both trucks and have fun ... not with that crowd
that close!

When a nylon towrope snaps it won't cut someones head off. I had a 20klb'er snap and hit me on the leg, and all I got was a bunch of little bruises. Secondly, it's more fun on cement/blacktop, because it dirt you just dig in and not move.

John

i have seen them snap and whip back violently, a chain is worse though, as far as doing the tug of war on pavement, i disagree, dirt isnt as harsh on the drive train and the vehicle with more tq will dig in and at least pull the other vehicle back. Pavement is much quicker though, but either way u go, ur lookin at tire wear..

thats right you do dig in on dirt, thats the point isnt it to gain the most traction, the way i see it if your on pavement and you lose traction you may as well let off and take a whipping and save the fuel, cuz once you really break lose on pavement your only goin back. Ive hooked on pavement and dirt. Dirt is by far the better terrain to pull on. IMO best palce to pull is on a feshly picked bean field.

pavement is the best for me. My brothers 05 will drag me on pavement while on dirt we will did untill we are both up to the axles. two evenly matched trucks on dirt are going no where but down. On pavement I will say that there is always gonna be a winner, either the one who didn't break anything or the one one drug the other. Im my experience which I have hooked up to 2 fords and one chevy I have pulled them all in 4wd but in 2wd it is a different story. I guess stock for stock a ford weighs more in back then a cummins. Now up front that is a whole different story .

I've done a tug-of-war in dirt against a built gasser on 35x14.5's and a 350, auto. Once the tires spin (at least my little halfbald 30") I dug in to the axles, but still managed to have enough power to "rock" it out, which was the hardest thing to do, but there was no way I was going to let some beatup gasser beat me in a tug-of-war infront of 200 people, so I went for broke
