Honda to make a diesel engine!

Sorry if this has been posted already, but I just came across it. For me, it's exciting and sad. I like the idea of having a product with high performance potential that's not main stream. More often than not, the average person thinks of diesels as slow and boring. Now with Honda getting into the scene, we'll soon be sharing these forums with zit-faced teenagers still suck'n down the parental gravytrain!

I'd like to see Nissan get in on the action. How about a Maxima or 350Z?
The sleek Z would get awesome mileage

Shouldn't this be in the "General Diesel" forum?

This guy has been singing the praises about the advantages of diesels for years but is writing about how they need to be cleaned up etc? And it's "common use today is in 18 wheelers that belch black soot everywhere"? Where has this guy been for the past five years? The answer to our oil addiction? He coulda skipped all that nonsense and just got to the point about the new diesel Hondas being introduced in '09

Wow that's gotta be tough ignoring 2 of the most successful car companies. 2 each their own I guess.

Honda has made diesels for years. They just haven't been available in the States.

Hurray, that might be one step closer to my Toyota Tacoma diesel hybrid. Heck, i'd consider a honda with a diesel pullin it.

Yeah I recognize they are different companies I just dislike both of them a little.

A Honda or Toyota blowin smoke would sure make me laugh though. Anybody seen any pics or video? That would be pretty funny.

I'm not very mechanically inclined, so I have owned lots of Hondas, Acuras, and a couple if Nissans. If you need a vehicle that's starts and takes you where you want to go, with just periodic maintenance and no major breakdowns, this is the way to go. Also their service has been excellent and this from experience in a few countries outside the USA.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still buying that big Cummins Ram in 08, but have a Maxima as a backup.

Ya know, if Honda makes a diesel 3/4 ton pickup.. I'll probably look really hard at it. I recently bought a '07 Honda Civic Coupe for my daughter, and I was EXTREMELY impressed with the car, the manufacturer, AND the dealership!.

Give me a Briggs & Stratton over a Hondoo, a Harley over a Yamahopper, a 'Vette over a Zee, a Colt over a Gluck, a Cummins over a Icksuzu, and well, y'all see where I'm comin' from, right? Call me a redneck or brand blind or anti-globalization but I live here in the USA and that's where I'll always try to give back to. As long as we keep buying they will keep laughing up their sleeves ...... all the way to the bank.

And yeah, I know Glucks aren't made in Jaypan but they were on the wrong side when it counted.

And your truck is made in Mexico by a German owned company!
