Found my 97 on here in the classifieds. Sent a couple messages to the owner, then by some strange coincidence, got a load that took me straight through Austin, TX to look at it. Committed to buying it on the spot, had to wait 8 days to pick it up. Had to ride 35 hours on a Greyhound, then drove 19 hours back home. Got back home in time to pack the semi up and head to New York city. Almost had a 98.5 QC/LB with 232k in trade for my 01, also from the site. It didn't work out, talked with the owner and it just wasn't feasible.

I'm still on the lookout for another CTD, whether it be 1st gen, 2nd gen 12V any cab, or a quad cab 24V.

Bought mine used in Hempstead Tx, had 22,000 miles and was mint. Traded my dads truck in on it and he got my 05 f-150 on 22's. Now I have 74,000miles on it, hauled some weight, and added alot of things to it. Still have a ways to go...

My old 84 Ferd 6.9 dropped a valve one day on I-5 at Tacoma Wa.(1/2006)so I said to self, " I am not going to try and fix this, I am going to look for what I have always wanted", (a first gen dodge w/ctd). Started looking and found one on Craigs (Portland Or). Called my son in law in Portland and had him go look at it, he said it looked and ran real good, so I called the dealer and told him I was driving south the 150 miles the next day to look at it. When I got there there were two other parties there that were making offers on it, the dealer told them that I was comming 150 miles to look at it, so when I got there I had first choice. the truck was great and I bought it for $4,100. Drove it home and been happy eversence.
LONG LIVE THE FIRST GENS.

when i got my 01, i had seen it on autotrader.com. it was an hour away, they had just got it on the lot. didnt even have pictures of it.

normally i dont consider a vehicle if i cant see it, but i went to look at it any way.

got up at 7 am drove an hour to look at it. the whole way there it was a snow storm, was freezing rain when i went for lunch. waited till almost noon, had to be to work at 1:00.

finally at the last minute, they found a company to approve financing. i ended up driving it to work.

i was late for work, but being late was worth it.

my pops picked up an 2001 dodge ram 2500 van from repodepo for 9 grand.

he was getting tired of it. didnt like the way it was driving. so we were passing by the local dealer and out of the corner of my eye in the back of the lot i saw her i told him pull in now!!!

turns out the truck just came onto the lot from auction less than 3 hours ago. asked how much the salesman told me 22 grand with 50 000 km on it. i said i'll take it right now. long story short. they gave me 11 for my van and tried to get me to back out of the deal. turns out he gave me the wrong price and they didn't get a chance to give me the actual price of the truck but i already signed the papers and the truck was already mine. had her 3 yeras now and i fell in love with it.

thankfully my dad helped pay for half but i always maintaine the truck and let him drive to thunderbay and other places to go hunting with it every year so he is greatful lol.

I had a D250 (1990) bought used and loved everything, until we got a camper and had to start hauling people.

Made a big mistake buying a Ford F250 with PSD. Engine puked 3 years later - and helfway through a late-start education. traded that for a 2001 F250 with V10. Wish I woulda known gas mileage SUCKED with that one.

Last January traded the Ford (Yippee!) for a 2500 with CTD and won't look back again - except to see the sweeeeeeeet smoke from the WVo I'm burnin'

First Dodge was a 2000 1500.
We deceided to get a travel trailer but the rear gearing wouldnt work for towing. It had a 3.55 and the min. that Dodge said would work was a 3.73.
Started looking for a replacement.
Went to one dealer and thought about a Hemi.
Dealer said a diesel would work better. Showed the DW the difference.
She said" Maybe we should get a diesel."
I said OK.
Test drove the diesel with a 8' bed.
Told the dealer to locate me one equipped exactly like the demo but SB.
Dealer called two days later and said "Your truck is in"
The rest is history.
Now I b funtruckin down the boulevard with an eartoear grin.

First vehicle was a 93 Chevy 1500 Ext Cab LB, 350 Auto...didn't like pulling the goose neck loaded, so after 45K miles (242K total), and 3 transmissions in 15 months, I wrecked it and me and Dad decided a Dually would be safer since I was towing the trailer A LOT.

Found the 95 on the local Dodge dealer's lot, and got it bought for $8100 with 203K miles. That was March 2003, drove it HARD, and beat it to death until June 2007. Since I was hot rodding so much, I told Dad I'd buy another truck, and leave the 95 to tow rig duties. At 320K miles, it wouldn't last much longer the way I treated it Now has 341K miles, and runs better than the day I got it.

Found my 98 in Fort Worth Texas on Ebay, told the guy I was flying down there, and to hold it for me (it had been on Ebay about 3 times before this) Got there and was a little disappointed by the 53 block, and a few chips in the paint, but it had 115K miles, and was EXACTLY what I wanted. It had 116,446 miles on it when I rolled in the driveway with it. I lasted until 124K until I got the tranny built and really started BOMBing it

My 01 1500 started to hunt in OD. I decided to look for a used CTD Crew Long 6-speed. Found one in Texas, called and did everything, even looked for a loan. When I found out how much the payment was going to be I said forget that letd order a new one. Went into the dealer with the truck I wanted already built from the website. Told them I wanted this truck, how much. Ordered the 06 on Easter weekend, picked her up May 29th, 2006. They had her sitting in the showroom for two days while I was busy working at college and could not get home to pick here up. The guys at the dealer said that they had a few people try to buy it before I could get home to pick her up. I have the window sticker that says that it was built for me. Still to this day I can remember the look on the salesman's face when I walked in and told him I wanted to order this truck, mind you I was 21 and in college when I ordered her, his expression was priceless.

Well I "inherited" the truck from my dad.

We bought it around 97 or 98 at that time only 2 years old with about 45,000 miles on it. She was a beauty, then my dad started driving it. He pulls a 28 foot aluminum livestock trailer everyday and there wasn't much clearance between the box sides and the gooseneck. That along with just my dads everday driving put some pretty good size "beauty" marks on the body. The box eventually came to the point where it wasn't much of a box. So we had a flatbed installed. And then dad bought himself a 97 3500 dually and had a flatbed installed before it ended up like the other box (in like 2003). And in 2006 Dad sold his 97 and bought an 06 3500 quad cab dually 6spd. Then i began driving the ol' 95.

I needed a truck to pull my camper. at the time I was married. I looked around at furd and the dodge. at the time furd was still using the 7.5l psd and I would have owned that. What sold me on the dodge was the interior. I can get in the truck and drive it 500 miles and still be comfortable. that was in late 1999. the truck is still here and the wife isn't! after finding sites like this one and learning a whole lot over the years I am glad I chose the dodge.

Not my first Dodge vehicle, I bought a new Coronet 440 in 1972. Then the next year I bought a new Powerwagon. No diesels then. In 1988 I bought a Ford F350 Dually. When Dodge came out with the new boy styles, I paused an thought about buying one, but my Ford was doing the job so I decided to wait. Well, I waited until I bought the Dodge truck I have now. I still have the Ford Dually, use it around the ranch, still a good running truck with a newly rebuilt 460 in it. I use the Dodge as my hauling truck, it is truly a joy to drive, more comfortable than the dually. I'm happy with the towing fuel mileage, twice that of the Ford. It's my first diesel, will also be my last as I expect to have it along time, probably quit needing a truck before it's wore out.

I bought my 1st dodge in Jan 2005. and traded it in last summer on my 06.
I wouldnt change a thing they have both been good trucks. my dad told me when I bought one I would never have be able to buy anything else but a dodge powered by a cummins. It would be hard to drive a normal truck again lol

I found my truck totally by coincidence. I went out with my folks to look at a 92' W250. It had a lot of KMs and the body was completely shot (so much for "some rust" like the ad said). Along with that the brakes didn't work worth a darn and they were asking WAY too much for it. So we passed on it. My dad mentioned that he had a jobsite in the area and wanted to check out the progress, ok we went and did that. After checking up on the jobsite we pull out to the highway and I look across and what do I see? A truck that I'm looking for! I said, "Hey go pull up beside that and let me check it out. Sure enough it was for sale, it had less KMs and the body was in reasonable shape. Not only that but the guy was asking a lot less too. Called the guy and the rest is history. Turns out his 17y/o daughter (cute I might add) didn't want to drive her dad's rattly old ranch truck to school.

I'm almost tempted to call up and show the previous owner the truck after I get my new injectors and turbo.
