Highway MPG (somewhat long)

Our trucks get incredible(comparitively) milage. My best to date was 25.8 hand figured on a round trip to Richmond. I left after rush hour, Hit the cruise control to 55 and never had to stop except 2 lights and where I was picking up the oil I went to get it was about 55 degrees and a little foggy.
My normal milage is around 18. It used to be 19 + until ULSD but I can't say for sure it's the fuel since I can't find regular diesel to compare back with.
ANY time idling kills my milage though.

Most likely the bad weather made you drive slower then normal thus you got better mpg. I get my best mpg driving between 55 and 60 MPH. One other though is when you filled up in WI the fuel you bought was good old LSD and not the junk ULSD we have here in North IA. BTW how are your Coopers tires holding up under your lead foot?
The only time i slowed down due to weather was last maybe 50 miles of trip....and with already having 600 on the tank that last 50 wouldnt have changed hardly anything.
i dont have a lead foot!

My best was 27.3 hand calculated Cheyenne, Wyoming to St Paul, Minn.
All downhill with a very strong tailwind. Not even one tank, 855 miles
Best I've ever done since is 23.6.
But then it's 12 valve, average is 21-22 mpg.
