Talking Here it is New Commuter...

I'll be taking delivery of it next Saturday. It's a 1978 V-dub diesel Wabbit. It's AWESOME condition! Best one I've ever seen! It has 87k original miles, no dents, no rust (couple of fall out spot that will clean up), all new hoses, filters, even has the original AM radio in it! The little guy belong to an old man the passed away, then was given to a gal who drove it a few times, then it was given to the current guy I bought it from. I only paid $500.00 bucks for it. It was running before the battery went dead. Battery appears to be new. This Wabbit appears to have been garaged all of its life. The original glowplug sticker from VW is still intact on the windshield.

Watcha all think?

Those rabbits can pass our trucks with ease, just have to drop to 4th gear...

Looks like it will work out great as a commuter!

It would perfect if it had a 5spd.

That's to help keep it cool and add an extra 25hp.

The rear mounted spare tire is actually a chute in disguise!

Great find....I'm jealous.
The old trick with the early diesel rabbits was "55 will get you 55"
ie: 55 mph will achieve 55 mpg.

We had a customer who complained he was only getting MPGs in the high 30s to low 40s.
I rode with him..........he was trying to run 80 MPH .........told him to slow down and check it again.
His MPGs improved dramatically.

When diesel jumped to over $3.50+ a gallon I knew I needed to do something. I was looking for a gasser when this guy called me about the rabbit. It was meant to be I reckon.
